Hollywood power couple Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar touch down in Sydney as he reprises famous role from horror cult classic

Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar have been spotted in Sydney as the actor prepares to reprise one of his most famous roles.

The Hollywood power couple have arrived quietly in Australia, where Freddie is filming the sequel to ’90s cult classic I Know What You Did Last Summer.

They were spotted at Chin Chin in Surry Hills on Saturday with their children – daughter Charlotte Grace, 15, and son Rocky James, 12 – according to the Daily Telegraph.

The couple will reportedly stay at a private home in Sydney until Christmas, when they will return to the United States after filming.

It has long been rumored that Freddie, 48, will reprise his role as Ray Bronson in the reboot of the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer.

His wife Sarah, 47, officially confirmed his involvement last month and their arrival in Australia comes as filming for the project has begun in Sydney in recent days.

Sarah also famously starred in the lead role in the hit film, but does not make a cameo, as her character Helen Shivers was killed off in the original.

However, she will still be heavily involved behind the scenes as Freddie stars, while her best friend Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct.

“My best friend is directing the movie, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is continuity,” she told People last month.

“So I’m always the one saying to her, ‘Well, that would happen, or that wouldn’t happen with those characters,’ so I kind of have an unofficial job title.”

Freddie and Sarah met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer, but didn’t start dating until three years later, and are now one of Hollywood’s biggest success stories.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is also rumored to be returning to her role as Julie James for the reboot, but she hasn’t been seen in Australia yet.

Monster star Nicholas Chavez, Matty Healy’s model fiance Gabbriette Bechtel and The Summer I Turned Pretty actress Lola Tung also make up the cast.

Outerbanks’ Madelyn Cline, Bodies Bodies Bodies star Chase Sui Wonders and One Tree Hill icon Austin Nichols are also currently filming for the Sydney release.

Nicholas, 25, has been spotted all over Down Under in recent days as he shocked fans by putting on a subdued performance at a Melbourne cafe this weekend.

Nicholas, known for his portrayal of killer Lyle Menendez in the hit Netflix series Monster, visited the Little Collins Melbourne cafe and left onlookers completely stunned.

Waitress Elena took over TikTok to share a video of her meeting the actor as he stopped to smile for photos with the delighted fan.

Alongside the video, shared on her page @elenaabellinaso, she wrote: ‘POV: You moved to Melbourne and Nicholas Chavez stops by the place where you got a job.’

Nicholas has kept the details of his visit Down Under under wraps, but his girlfriend Victoria Abbott shared some photos of the trip on Instagram.

The couple looked in love as they posed arm-in-arm during a sunset hot air balloon ride in one adorable snap.

They were also seen feeding kangaroos and petting koalas as they got up close and personal with local Australian wildlife.

Details about filming for the highly anticipated sequel have been kept under wraps until now, but the film is expected to hit theaters on July 18, 2025.

A reboot featuring the original stars has been in the works for a while, with reports indicating that they were in talks to return to the franchise as early as February 2023.

The thriller follows four teenagers who accidentally run over a man and dump his body to cover up their crime, before being pursued by a killer who knows their secret.

Ryan Phillippe also starred, while Johnny Galecki, Bridgette Wilson and the late Anne Heche – who died in August 2022 at the age of 53 – also made up the cast.

The hit film, loosely based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel, spawned the sequels I Still Know What You Did Last Summer in 1998 and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer in 2006.

It was also the source material for a 2021 Amazon Prime series that lasted just one season, starring Madison Iseman and Brianne Tju.
