Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian has marked the end of five months of chemotherapy treatment amid her battle with breast cancer, she has revealed.
The 42-year-old actress, who is best known for playing Becca Dean in the Channel 4 soap from 2001 to 2007, was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer by doctors in June.
Ali told her fans on Tuesday that she had had five months of chemo – describing the process as ‘big’.
She was inundated with messages of support from fans, co-stars and famous friends, saying their kindness is “getting her through it.”
Ali shared a sweet video of her and husband David O’Mahony, saying: ‘I gotta ring (the little bell I stole from my kid’s music box because they don’t [bell] thing here in Ireland) after five months of chemotherapy. I’m still half way through this last cycle, there is still so much to process on every level.
‘Chemo is important. The oncology nursing team at Dunmanway CUH are INCREDIBLE, I told them as I left… it’s not that I never want to see them again because I love them all so much, I just hope that next time we’ll all have a glass of Prosecco in our hands to raise money and awareness for all their incredible work.

In an update to fans on Tuesday, Ali revealed she had undergone five months of chemotherapy – and described the process as ‘big’
“For anyone who goes through this, you think the end will never come, and then through the fog…the goalposts appear. You’re not alone.’
She added: “Thank you all so much. I read every kind word of support and it honestly helps me get through xxxxxxx .”
Messages of support poured in from Ali’s famous friends, as Lizzie Cundy said: ‘Stay positive and stay strong my beautiful friend. You are amazing ,’;
“You’re AMAZING ,” said Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, while fellow soap co-star Gemma Merna said: “You’re amazing Ali .”
Ashley James said: “Thinking of you Ali ,” while Anna Williamson added: “You are absolutely amazing, so much love .”
“Sending love xxxxxxx ,” said Helen Skelton, while Giovanna Fletcher added: “Sending you loads of love!! XXX.’
Hollyoaks alum Danny Mac shared love hearts, with Dermot O’Leary also sending support.
The Strictly pros also came out on top, with Karen Hauer saying ‘Sending love ‘ and Janette Manara adding: ‘Keep going! Sending you all the love.”

Meanwhile, Ola Jordan said: ‘Sending you love Ali ,’ and Ian Watkins said: ‘Big hugs xxxx.’
“Jesus, I had no idea,” said host Kelle Bryan. “Keep fighting warrior, you got this sending all my love and prayers.”
Last month, Ali was rushed to hospital during her cancer treatment.
She shared an update to her Instagram Story, posing for a selfie and telling her followers that she was getting some much-needed rest.
Ali dressed warmly in a knitted hat and a padded coat and took a walk through the countryside.
She captioned the post: ‘Thank you so much to everyone at Cork University Hospital A&E for looking after me this weekend. Now back home, get some fresh air and rest.’

The actress, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy, is undergoing a mastectomy and radiotherapy and shared the emotional moment she shaved off her hair.
Now Ali has admitted she feared she would lose ‘her identity’ and her hair after shaving her head.
She told me The sun is fantastic magazine: ‘At home I walk around with a bald head all the time. But I was afraid that going bald from chemo meant I was “becoming” a cancer patient, and that was all anyone would see.
“I thought it would be like losing my identity.”
But Ali revealed that the first time she took off her wig it only felt like a big deal for ‘a split second’.
She added, “Then it felt good, and then it just felt normal. I’m hot and my bald head needs some air!’
