Hollow Knight Silksong story and setting

Hollow Knight Silk Song is set in the haunted kingdom of Pharloom. Visually, it’s a gilded, gloomy sort of area, similar to the deepest setting of the first game. Hornet starts at the very bottom, having been taken there after being captured. From there, she must climb higher and higher, hunt down enemies and ultimately determine the fate of the world around her.

Just like in the first game, Silk song seems likely to convey most of its story through NPC dialogue and environmental lore. A story is certainly there if you want it, but perhaps less in the spotlight compared to other facets of the game. What we do know is that there will once again be several bosses to take down, friends to meet, and subtle choices to decide on as you play. There is still much to learn about the story within Silk songbut we bet most of it will remain a mystery until the game is in players’ hands.

Players enter as Hornet Hollow Knight Silk Song, which is quite a stark contrast compared to the knight from the first game. She is much more agile, able to dart and wrestle around the world, with her needle weapon in hand. Again, players will be able to find new abilities as they progress, giving them options to customize Hornet.

We’ve seen too much gameplay so far Silk song, but what has been shown appears to be a continuation of its predecessor’s platforming/boss battles. You explore different zones and slowly unlock the map. It’s another Metroidvania game, meaning certain areas are locked behind skill upgrades, with a lot of backtracking. Boss fights seem to be a big part of it Silk songwith the gameplay trailer released last year showing off some of the main enemies we’ll be taking on.

If you’ve played Hollow Knight, it generally seems like you’re right at home with the gameplay in it Silk song. We’ll have to wait and see how many new bells and whistles are added this time around, but for now the action looks like more Hollow Knight – which is certainly no bad thing.
