HMV will sell books from its flagship store on Oxford Street as it aims to make money at Christmas

HMV plans to expand its book offering as it looks to boost sales in the run-up to Christmas.

The vinyl and CD store will start selling literature at its flagship store on Oxford Street in central London on November 18.

The move came as boss Doug Putman declared there was a ‘real buzz’ about Oxford Street.

Reading grew in popularity during the pandemic, with Generation Z sharing their favorite titles on social media.

HMV will dedicate a floor to the sale of bestsellers, including Tik Tok phenomenon A Court Of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas, plus classics by Stephen King and George Orwell, among others.

Putman, the Canadian billionaire owner of HMV, said he was excited about a Christmas sales boost as the High Street has “rediscovered what makes it special post-Covid”.

He added: “We can only keep that magic if we continue to innovate and give our customers reasons to come back to us.”
