HMD aims to be the next Blackberry as it launches a new affordable handset to appeal to B2B and enterprise markets – Pulse+ Business Edition is as bland as it gets, but don’t ignore its shockingly good business credentials

HMD has unveiled the HMD Pulse+ Business Edition smartphone, the first of its new range of handsets aimed at business users.

The HMD Pulse+ Business Edition features a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, a 5,000mAh battery, a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. It offers a host of enterprise-ready features such as network locking, PIN pad scramble, and the option to disable biometric identification during installation.

In addition to the phone, HMD has also launched its Firmware-Over-The-Air (FOTA) service for business users. This allows companies to manage and update Android apps across their entire device fleet from one place, providing greater flexibility and control over software deployment.

Fix it yourself

HMD says the Pulse+ Business Edition puts a heavy emphasis on security, efficiency and durability and the company promises users five years of security updates, three years of warranty and enterprise-compatible security measures such as PIN-only power off.

With this phone, HMD supports Repair It Yourself (RIY) solutions. The device can be easily repaired with spare parts available through the HMD Repair Hub, which works with iFixit, supporting in-house repair programs and reducing dependence on third-party repair centers. For more complex problems, HMD offers DHL Express Door to Door Care, where devices can be sent for professional repair.

“The HMD Pulse+ Business Edition addresses key business needs, including efficiency, safety and sustainability, through features such as a repairable design, extended warranties and comprehensive security updates,” said James Robinson, senior vice president of enterprise at HMD.

“At HMD we have already developed a range of smartphones specifically for business use, complemented by our HMD FOTA service, which allows IT managers to effectively manage device updates.”

The HMD Pulse+ Business Edition in Midnight Blue is available for sale across Europe from today for €199.
