Pictured: Hero parents who ‘saved their daughter’s life’ before they were killed in Boxing Day ‘hit-and-run’ while family made their way to dinner
These are the hero parents who reportedly got their teenage daughter to safety before a car plowed into them on Boxing Day, tragically killing them both.
Anthony Hogg and his wife Georgina Hogg-Moore died after the crash on December 26 on Blanchardstown Road North, west Dublin, while walking near Blanchardstown Shopping Center at around 5.45pm.
Mrs Hogg-Moore, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr Hogg, 40, died as a result of his injuries in hospital. Four people were involved in the accident, but no other injuries were reported.
A man in his forties has since been arrested after reporting to the local police station the same evening after the couple’s death.
The couple is survived by two children, one of whom was with them at the time of the impact. According to reports, she was hit by a wing mirror and suffered some bruises.
According to the Irish sunGardaí believe she may have been brought to safety by her parents.
A vigil was held at the site where the tragedy occurred on Friday evening, during which blue and white balloons were released.
Ms Hogg-Moore’s sister Katie Moore paid tribute on social media, saying the family were ‘absolutely heartbroken’ before appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The couple’s niece, Kirstie Moore, also appealed to online information and described the couple as “having the truest hearts and souls”, adding that their family had “no words to describe” how they felt.
Ms Hogg-Moore’s cousin, Carly Gray, told the Irish Sun that the tragedy has been torn apart [their] family apart,” adding that the couple was “loved beyond measure.”
“They just went out to dinner and their lives were taken from all of us,” she said.
In a statement issued on Friday, gardaí confirmed that a man had been arrested in connection with the incident.
“Investigating gardaí arrested a man (in his 40s) last night, Thursday 26 December 2024, in connection with this incident,” the statement read. ‘He is currently being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin.
‘A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has now been reopened.
“Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed this collision to contact them.
‘Any road users or pedestrians who were in the area of Blanchardstown Road North on Thursday 26 December 2024 between 5pm and 6pm and have CCTV footage (including dashcam) are asked to make it available to gardaí investigations.
‘Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any other Garda Station.’
