HIMSS presents new, modernized INFRAM at global conference

HIMSS announced this week an update and modernization of its Infrastructure Adoption Model.

WHY IT MATTERS
The new INFRAM maturity framework is now centered around five key requirements for healthcare organizations, and is designed to ensure that provider IT infrastructure is deployed in a way that enables measurable contributions to:

  • cyber security

  • adoption

  • sustainability

  • performance

  • outcomes

HIMSS (parent company of Healthcare IT News) gathered input and guidance from a global board of healthcare IT experts to redesign the existing INFRAM model to better help healthcare system leaders analyze and optimize their technology infrastructure their organizations.

INFRAM helps hospitals and healthcare systems conduct a comprehensive assessment that can identify critical gaps and potential risks in a given facility’s infrastructure architecture. It also helps highlight new opportunities for IT investments and provides a toolkit and roadmap for future improvements, according to HIMSS.

Like other HIMSS adoption models, INFRAM is structured around a ladder of eight maturity stages – from zero to seven – to help healthcare systems make the right technology investments for continued success with both hardware and software. full value and potential of their IT infrastructure.

THE BIG TREND
Currently, only two healthcare systems in the world have reached INFRAM Stage 7. The first to do this was the Seoul-based Samsung Medical Center.

“We decided to move towards INFRAM Stage 7 because we wanted to find ways to improve our infrastructure to create a high-tech, intelligent hospital,” said Dr. Seung Woo Park, chairman of SMC, said in a statement.

ON THE RECORD
“The new focus domains and enhanced INFRAM guidelines enable healthcare providers to improve care delivery, reduce cyber and infrastructure risks, and create a path for infrastructure development tied to business and clinical outcomes,” said Toni Laracuente, HIMSS Global Head of Analytics, in a statement. “Using INFRAM will help healthcare systems reduce costs, mitigate risks and improve outcomes for both patients and physicians.”

HIMSS is expected to host a launch of the modernized INFRAM at the HIMSS Connect booth at HIMSS24 in Orlando on Tuesday, March 12 at 4 p.m. More information and registration.
