HIMSS launches new member benefits, featuring research, analysis and other resources

HIMSS, the global advisor focused on the digital transformation of healthcare worldwide, this week announced the launch of its new enhanced membership program.

HIMSS, parent company of Healthcare IT newsis a professional association with a growing community of approximately 125,000 individual members and 1,500 organizational members: health systems and other healthcare organizations, nonprofits, and technology developers.

The association and its global membership network serve as a trusted resource for healthcare system executives, physicians, IT professionals and others in the healthcare industry.

The newly enhanced HIMSS membership program – learn more about it here – provides access to a range of resources for members working to address challenges in the healthcare ecosystem: free digital maturity assessment tools, professional development programs, exclusive educational resources and networking opportunities.

One of the benefits of membership is that stakeholders have access to proprietary research in AI, cybersecurity, digital transformation and more through HIMSS’s Office of Scientific Research and HIMSS Market Insights.

In addition to these research papers, studies, webinars and surveys, healthcare organizations can also track and benchmark their progress with free assessment surveys using the HIMSS Maturity Models.

Enhanced Membership also includes professional development resources such as skills-based training and others HIMSS Certifications that support career development. In addition, HIMSS members have access to dozens of programs and events that bring members together to network, share ideas and gather with a global community of thought leaders – and the opportunity to connect and collaborate with hundreds of global HIMSS chapters and communities.

THE BIG TREND
Over the past year and a half, HIMSS has been “on a listening tour of all areas of our membership community, with focus groups, surveys, interviews and candid conversations; all focused on the value of HIMSS membership,” Jim Burnett, vice president of engagement strategies at HIMSS, tells Healthcare IT news.

“As a result of that extensive research, we have launched new membership programs for North America, putting our members at the heart of everything we do to support the community. From expanding our benefits offering to greater access to digital healthcare transformation tools, to leveraging our internal technology to deliver personalized content to our members at the time they need it, these new programs provide greater support and engagement from the community.”

In particular, the inclusion of unlimited HIMSS Maturity Models for members is a valuable offering, Burnett said. “These tools help create a roadmap for digital healthcare transformation that is unparalleled in the industry and provide a healthcare system with the ability to determine its best strategic path forward.”

Members “will discover exciting new ways to develop professionally, network with a community of more than 120,000 members and contribute to some of the biggest conversations in healthcare through 55 local chapters, events and specialty communities,” he added.

Going forward, Burnett said, “our members can expect some exciting new collaborations across the industry, even richer opportunities to network and engage with the community, and more educational opportunities to grow in their profession.”

ON THE RECORD
“For decades, HIMSS and its members have been the epicenter of healthcare delivery and healthcare innovation,” HIMSS President and CEO Hal Wolf said in a news release. “The newly enhanced membership program reflects our strategic focus on expanding the global HIMSS network, fostering collaboration and equipping healthcare professionals with the resources they need to address healthcare’s most pressing challenges, including the workforce development, the application of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital transformation.”

“The HIMSS association was developed by members, for members. As our members succeed, the health care system thrives,” he added. “Our evolving membership program represents our commitment to empowering the individuals and organizations shaping the future of the health ecosystem.”
