Failed presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has warned Joe Biden that voters are right to be concerned about his age amid lingering doubts about his fitness for office.
The ex-secretary of state said the age of the 80-year-old is “a problem” in the 2024 election at a conference organized by the British newspaper.
She was asked by one Financial Times Summit in Washington, D.C., on Biden stumbling at the G7 summit in Japan.
Clinton made her remarks at a conference hosted by the Financial Times over the weekend

“His age is an issue, and people have every right to take that into consideration,” Clinton said. “It’s a concern for everyone.”
The 75-year-old added, “We’ve had presidents who fell before who were much younger, and people didn’t get palpitations.”
Clinton, who lost to Donald Trump in 2016, claimed that Joe Biden “doesn’t get credit yet” for “jobs and growth.”
“Obviously I hope he stays very focused and able to run in the election because I think he can get re-elected, which is what we should all hope for,” she told the audience.
Her comments stand in stark contrast to fellow Democrats, who have dismissed concerns about the commander-in-chief’s age.
Biden is the oldest president in U.S. history and would finish a second term at age 86.
The White House aide has repeatedly downplayed concerns about Biden’s mental and physical fitness.
But late last month, the president was handed answer cards to help him navigate vetted questions from journalists during a highly staged press conference.
Biden shrugged when asked about his advanced years at the event alongside South Korean President Yoon Sun Yeol.
“As for the age, I can’t even say — I guess how old I am, I can’t even say the number, it doesn’t register me,” he said. He added that he expected voters to “take a good look at it, I would too.” I looked at it before I decided to flee.’
Ex-South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has called for mental health fitness testing for everyone over the age of 75, in a move seen as a thinly veiled swipe at Biden and Donald Trump.
But Trump himself offered his support, saying that you need “great mental acuity and physical stamina” to do the job of president.
Republicans have long criticized Biden for his many verbal blunders and have called for him to conduct a cognitive examination.
Biden was given a clean bill of health in February after his annual physical exam, but his doctor did not say whether he had examined the president’s mental acuity.
Next year he will be on full public display as the campaign anticipates next year’s vote.
During the 2020 election, he campaigned primarily online, rarely leaving Delaware at the height of the Covid pandemic.
Trump was 70 years old when he entered the Oval Office in 2017 after defeating Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
