Hillary Clinton says she doesn’t believe Trump saying he ‘likely’ won’t pardon himself in sit-down with Biden’s ex-Press Secretary Jen Psaki

Hillary Clinton says she doesn’t believe Donald Trump when he says he wouldn’t use his presidential powers to pardon himself if he wins another term in the White House.

Trump’s 2016 rival told President Joe Biden’s former press secretary Jen Psaki that she “doesn’t believe him in anything.”

It comes after Trump said in an interview with NBC News host Kristen Welker last weekend that he could have pardoned himself before leaving office if he really wanted to, saying it is “unlikely” he would do so if he were to become president again.

Clinton sat down for a wide-ranging interview for MSNBC’s Sunday show Inside with Jen Psaki and also slammed Republicans in the House of Representatives over their impeachment inquiry into Biden.

She claimed that the Republican Party is “manufacturing a political issue that they can try to use for their own benefit.”

Trump said over the weekend that it was “unlikely” that he would pardon himself on the four different sets of charges against him, claiming he is innocent of the charges he is accused of.

“They just want to, you know, be able to step up and try to cause problems for President Biden,” she added. “I mean, it’s not a real threat. It’s a terrible burden. But more than that, it’s a real admission from the Republican party: they have no agenda. They have no interest in bringing people together to solve problems.”

Clinton also praised Kamala Harris for doing “a much better job than she deserves” as the first female vice president — and warned that if Russian President Vladimir Putin “has a chance,” he will meddle in the 2024 election.

Psaki asked Clinton during Sunday’s interview: “(Trump) recently said it’s very unlikely he’ll try to pardon himself. Do you believe him?’

“I don’t believe him in anything,” Clinton shot back.

“Why should I believe him in that?” she continued during her sit-down interview on Psaki’s MSNBC Sunday show. “You know, the thing about him – and I’m not the only one who’s noticed this – is that he engages in what psychologists call projection.”

“So if he accuses someone else of doing something, it’s almost guaranteed that he’s doing it himself or that he’s already done it,” the former Secretary of State and onetime US First Lady explained. “Or when he denies thinking about doing something or doing it, it’s almost guaranteed that he’s thinking about it or has already done it.”

Speaking to NBC’s Meet the Press last weekend, Trump said: “I could have pardoned myself. You know what? I was given the opportunity to pardon myself. I could have pardoned myself when I left.”

Clinton sat down with Biden’s former White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Sunday for an interview in which she also praised Vice President Kamala Harris for doing “a much better job than she gets credit for.”

He added: “Some people told me these are sick lunatics I’m dealing with. Forgive yourself, your life will be a lot easier.’ I said I would never pardon myself.”

Trump faces four separate sets of charges — two of which are related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. All the charges were filed this year, starting with allegations that he gave porn star Stormy Daniels a hush money payment.

The ex-president has repeatedly said he has no interest in pardoning himself and claims he is innocent of the crimes charged.

Welker pressed Trump, asking if he still wouldn’t pardon himself “if you were re-elected right now.”

“Well, I think it’s very unlikely,” Trump responded. ‘What, what did I do wrong? I didn’t do anything wrong. Are you saying they want to put me in jail for contesting an election?”
