Hillary Clinton laughs at Trump’s 37-point federal indictment

Hillary Clinton cackled when asked about former President Donald Trump’s 37-count federal indictment for his mishandling of classified documents during a podcast episode released Tuesday.

At the same time, Trump named his former rival ā€” claiming she had “acid washed” her emails and stolen White House furniture and china when he mounted a public defense of the documents case from Bedminster on Tuesday night.

Clinton was part of a Monday night recording of the Pod Save America podcast in which the hosts, ex-Obama and Clinton staffers, gave her a t-shirt that read“Totally Impartial Potential Juror,” in case she was called before a Trump jury.

‘You are joking!’ Clinton said, laughing out loud as the hosts reported on Trump’s second indictment this year. ā€œI get a lot of responses to it. And I think the best public response is, you know, let’s see it unfold and let’s see what happens.”

She then attacked Trump’s Republican believers for sticking with him, predicted he would be the party’s nominee for 2024, but also said Democratic President Joe Biden would be in a strong position to run against him .

Clinton was surprised that many Republicans pointed out that the FBI decided not to press charges against Clinton, who had kept classified information on her private e-mail server during her time as State Department leader.

FBI Director James Comey rattled her 2016 presidential bid against Trump by publicly announcing she would not face charges ā€” then warning Congress days before the vote that the email case had been reopened when additional emails began to appear. found on former Representative Anthony Weiner’s laptop.

Clinton was endorsed by the FBI for a second time before Election Day, but many Democrats blamed Comey’s interference for her shock loss.

“I find it – strange – let’s say, to the point of the absurd, that that’s their only response,” Clinton said of the Republicans.

“They refuse to read the indictment, they refuse to deal with the facts, there’s nothing new about that, and what they refuse to admit is that this is about him on a track, not anyone else, no matter how much they remember trying to say more. confuse people, and how much they try to raise odd issues,” she continued.

“And it will be fascinating, I think, in a bizarre and sad way, to watch them wind themselves up.”

Trump first announced he would face charges Thursday night in the federal classified documents case, with the contents of the indictment to be unsealed Friday afternoon.

Still, Republican partisans remained at Trump’s side throughout the weekend.

“Their efforts to defend this man are truly beyond what I ever thought possible in our country,” Clinton noted.

“It’s so deeply disturbing how this could have been the breakup ā€” this could have been the opportunity to say, ‘You know, thank you for everything you’ve done for us, we really appreciate it, you know, but this is kind of serious and that’s why we’re not going to continue defending you,ā€ she said.

“But no, they’re all back in,” she continued. “The psychology of this is so hard for me to fully understand.”

She added, “It seems likely at this point that he will be the nominee,” noting that many states allocate delegates to the Republican National Convention under winner-takes-all rules, meaning that for a GOP challenger harder to get a front-runner after the first few primaries have been held.

“It’s more of a cult than a political party right now,” Clinton said.

She said Biden had a “remarkable” first two years as president.

“I don’t think he gets credit for it,” Clinton said. “And partly that’s because he’s not an artist, he’s a producer.”

“He gets up every day and goes to work for the American people,” she added.

Clinton believed Biden would be successful in 2024 by showing “contrast” and highlighting his “achievements.”

“So I think President Biden is actually in a very strong position to run a campaign that doesn’t have to talk about him,” she said of Trump. “But I think other Democrats should and other concerned Americans should be asking hard questions.”

A question she thinks Biden should be asking: “If the circus leaves town, what will your life be like?”

Trump created a scene in Miami on Tuesday, driving to and from the courthouse and then to a popular Cuban restaurant, Versailles, before headlining a fundraiser and speech at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey.

There he berated his old rival, Clinton, as he tried to portray the allegations against him as politically motivated.

“Hillary Clinton broke the law and she was not charged,” he complained. false charging that she “acid washed” the emails she deleted from the server before turning the rest over to federal investigators.

In reality, Clinton’s IT people used a program called BleachBit – which was the basis for Trump’s claim.

“Hillary Clinton took hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of furniture, china, cutlery, rugs and more from the White House and she was not prosecuted,” Trump also said. ā€œWhat about that one. She brought the furniture and the china.’

“And if Trump did?” asked the former president.
