Hillary Clinton is attacking young people over views on Israel-Gaza because she’s bitter they supported Obama in 2008 and Bernie Sanders in 2016, leading left-wing journalist says

After Hillary Clinton rejected young people’s views on Israel and Gaza during an interview on Thursday, a prominent left-wing journalist called her “bitter.”

Glenn Greenwald wrote on X.com, formerly known as Twitter, that Clinton speaks to the ignorance of younger Americans as she failed to gain their support in her two presidential bids.

“A big reason Hillary Clinton is spending her final years ranting and raving about the ignorance of ‘young people’ is that it was young people who largely supported Obama in their hateful battle in 2008, and then Bernie in 2016,” he wrote .

Greenwald, who previously worked as a journalist for The Guardian where he helped break the Edward Snowden story, further condemned Clinton.

“They don’t know much at all about the history of the Middle East, or frankly about the history in many parts of the world, including our own country,” Hillary Clinton said of young people in a recent interview

“Just a bitter, miserable person,” he wrote.

Greenwald’s comments were in reference to the former secretary of state’s recent interview on MSNBC in which she suggested that young Americans are largely ignorant.

“I’ve had a lot of conversations with a lot of young people over the past few months,” the former presidential candidate said with a slight smile.

“They don’t know much at all about the history of the Middle East, or frankly about the history in many parts of the world, including our own country.

Clinton went on to talk about her husband’s foreign policy efforts in the region.

She cited an offer Bill Clinton made to then-Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat when he tried to broker a settlement between Palestine and Israel.

“They do not know that… an offer has been made to the Palestinians for a state on 96 percent of the existing territory occupied by the Palestinians… requiring 4 percent of Israel to be given 100 percent of the total territory reach. territory that was hoped for.”

Clinton, who has said her views on students are based on several conversations with young people in recent months, said:

“This offer was made and if Yasser Arafat had accepted it, there would have been a Palestinian state for about 24 years now.”

In 2000, President Clinton sat with Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak at Camp David, where he attempted to negotiate a peace agreement between the two sides.

Peace proved elusive and did not materialize. In the aftermath of the summit, both Israel and Palestine tried to blame each other.

Later that year, the Second Intifada of Palestinian resistance was announced, ushering in an era of greater violence in the region that would last until 2005.

After the situation in Gaza deteriorated following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, Hillary Clinton increasingly came into conflict with young people.

Clinton is a professor of international and public affairs at Columbia University, where there have been passionate and prolonged protests against Israel’s treatment of Gaza’s civilian population.

In February, Clinton was shouted down by pro-Palestinian protesters during a lecture.

“Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, you are a war criminal!” shouted one angry protester as she walked onto the stage to address the students.

“The people of Libya, the people of Iraq, the people of Syria, the people of Palestine and also the people of America will never forgive you.”
