Former first lady and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton looked chic Wednesday night as she spoke onstage with her daughter Chelsea Clinton at the Glamor Women of the Year awards.
While some political figures were attending election night parties or making the rounds on cable news, Clinton, 76, and her daughter, 43, took the stage Tuesday night to present America Ferrera with one of the magazine’s Women of the Year awards.
Onstage at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, Clinton wore a rich purple dress adorned with jewel-toned beading that matched the former first lady’s signature colorful accessories.
Chelsea opted for a more subdued classic fit. She wore a figure-hugging black dress with cap sleeves and a flattering neckline. She wore her hair down and loose around her face and kept her jewelry minimal.

When the Clintons stepped out to celebrate the Women of the Year, Democrats across the country emerged victorious in tight races, including the governor’s race in Kentucky, several key races in Virginia, and the pro-choice movement gained a big win in Ohio.
Many of the women honored by Glamor are politically involved, in addition to their more conventional showbiz careers.
Ferrera, for example, first became acquainted with the Clintons on the 2008 campaign trail, where she enthusiastically supported Hillary Clinton, hoping she would become the country’s first female president.
Accepting her award, Ferrera said, “Madam Secretary, I know I speak for many of us when I say that you have been an example to all of us to always show up for work on good days and especially on bad days .
“You always rise to fight another day, and you have been a deep inspiration and influence in my life. Thank you for who you are in this world and for honoring me with your presence here tonight.”
Other high-profile attendees and winners of the awards ceremony included Millie Bobby Brown, Brooke Shields, Mary J. Blige, Geena Rocero, Quinta Brunson and Selma Blair.

Also honored during the show was actor and activist Selma Blair, who received the evening’s Daring to Disrupt Award.
Actor Chloë Grace Moretz introduced Blair by personally thanking her for her advocacy:
“Thank you, Selma, for your courage and resilience.”
‘Your plea disrupts norms and emphasizes the power of authenticity. You are more than an inspiration, you are a lighthouse guiding us towards empathy and inclusivity. You are a true role model,” she said.
Blair spoke about bringing her passions for disability services and fashion together. She discussed what her often publicly documented experience with multiple sclerosis has taught her.
It has been an amazing journey because now I have come to view disability as an olive tree whose branches reach out to find light in each other, to offer peace, hope and healing,” she said.
