An early adopter of MSCHF’s now-viral Big Red Boots has left people in hysterics after discovering they’re almost impossible to take off.
The $350 shoes, inspired by the cartoon character Astro Boy, wowed fashion fans earlier this week with the bizarre design splitting social media.
But a hilarious clip has since surfaced that shows just how troublesome the silly creation really is.
In the TikTok clip, filmed in a store in New York, a man was forced to enlist the help of his friends to free him from the ridiculous footwear.
And social media users were quick to see the funny side with commenters joking, “Legend has it he still wears the boots.”

In the TikTok clip, filmed in a store in New York, a man was forced to enlist the help of his friends to free him from the ridiculous footwear.
The video, which has so far been viewed more than three million times, was posted from the Bowery Showroom, a New York City-based boutique that specializes in independent designers and local artists.
It shows a man lying on his back on the ground and clutching his leg while one of his friends pulls on the Big Red Boot that is stuck to his foot.
The prospective client slides across the floor as his willing assistant continues to yank on the obscenely large shoe with force.
Another of his companions begins to put on the other boot at the same time that a slight panic begins to appear on the man’s face.
The clip was uploaded along with a caption that read “try at your own risk,” and the whole debacle left social media users in hysterics.
One wrote: ‘Legend has it that he still wears the boots.’
Another said: “I can literally see where the panic starts.”
And a third simply added: “I’ve been crying about this since it was published.”

Officially launching on February 16, The Big Red Boot is the latest shoe design from Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF, which has built a reputation for creating designs that poke fun at everyday concepts.
The brand’s wacky creations in the past have included a cologne that smells like WD-40, ‘Eat The Rich Popsicles’ in the shape of iconic plutocrats, and ‘Jesus Shoes’ with holy water from the Jordan River inside the soles.
His latest meme-worthy creation is made of a TPU rubber shell and EVA foam.
MSCHF itself has labeled the shoes ‘cartoon boots for a cool 3D world’ and the press release notes: ‘If you kick someone in these boots, they BOING!’
He continued: ‘You never design shoes to be shaped like feet. Big Red Boots aren’t REALLY shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots.’

Earlier this week, the design sent the internet into a frenzy, but opinions have been divided.
At one camp, there were dozens of fashion-conscious people who couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pair.
One Twitter user wrote: “The big red boots are cute, if you couldn’t rock them it’s because you have bad taste, no style or pizzazz.”
Another wrote: ‘Guys I’m not even kidding right now. I’m going to buy those big red boots. Like all seriousness, I’m getting them.
And a third just emphasized: “I need those big red astro boy boots.”

The Big Red Boot has caused quite a stir online with social media being a frenzy, and there were dozens who couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pair.
But that’s not the whole story.
At the other end of the spectrum were a wide range of users who simply scoffed at the weird design and compared it to characters like Pac-Man and Clifford the Big Red Dog.
One Twitter user shared a photo of Dora the Explorer’s sidekick named Boots, writing: “Everybody wearing those big red boots looks exactly like this, idc if they think they’re rocking them or not.” [sic].’
Another wrote: ‘No sorry y’all gotta let the big red boots go girls. Astro Boy rolling in his cryogenic chamber right now.
And a third just said, ‘I’m sick of seeing those big red boots.’
Despite the doubts of some, the Big Red Boots have already hit the resale market with a price of more than $1,700.
The cost is expected to drop after the official launch, but StockX has already sold 19 pairs at various prices well above retail, according to its website.
