  • Sunday’s victory means that the 24 Grand Slam winner will end the year as number 1 in the world

Footage has emerged showing Novak Djokovic being asked for a bizarre request during the ATP Finals in Turin on Sunday.

After his victory over Holger Rune, the Serbian – who won the US Open in September – went around the arena signing autographs and taking photos.

One of the fans present hilariously asked the tennis star to sign an autograph on his chest.

Although Djokovic has almost certainly rarely had such a request before, the 36-year-old was happy to do so.

In a video uploaded to the official Nitto ATP Finals Instagram page, Djokovic can be seen signing the fan’s torso with his initials.

Despite the rather bizarre request, the 24 Grand Slam winner happily participated

After inking the man’s skin, Djokovic was seen giving him a friendly pat on the head.

It came after he defeated Rune 7-6 (4) 6-7 (1) 6-3 in a match that lasted three hours and eight minutes at the Pala Alpitour arena in Turin.

Djokovic also went viral for a moment during the first match of the ATP Tour Finals.

Frustrations ran high for the Serbian at the start of the third set. He broke immediately to start the deciding set, but Rune was able to immediately make up the deficit.

Rune’s recovery subsequently promoted Djokovic to stomp on two rackets – before breaking again to lead 4-2.

After the meeting, Djokovic told Prime Video: “It took everything. I saw in the first game, when he was firing shots from the baseline, I knew it was going to be a tough night for me. I thought he played great. I played great at times.

“Generally speaking, a win is a win. It was a very emotional win and a tough win knowing how important tonight’s match is. After a terrible tiebreak in the second set, I think I played a very solid third set.”

Djokovic would defeat Rune 7-6 (4) 6-7 (1) 6-3 in a match that lasted three hours and eight minutes.

After his last victory, this now means he is guaranteed to end the year as number 1 in the world

After his last win, this now means he has now won his last 19 matches and is guaranteed to finish the year as world number 1.

‘It means a lot. You could see there were a lot of emotions on the field. I could feel it. “I really wanted to win tonight’s game and get that monkey off my back,” when talking about ending the year at the top.

‘I won Paris, which put me in a much better position in the rankings, and I knew when I came to Turin I only had to win one match. A big goal has been achieved, everything else is now a bonus.”

The Serbian has had a remarkable 2023, despite losing to Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon in the final. In June, he secured a record 23rd Grand Slam title after beating Norwegian Casper Ruud 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the French Open final.
