Hilarious moment Tui pilot channels his ‘inner headteacher’ as he tells off rowdy passengers and lays down ground rules for family flight to Tenerife

This is the hilarious moment a pilot channels his inner headmaster and reprimands misbehaving passengers on a family flight to Tenerife.

The TUI captain was forced to lay down the rules after several passengers ‘overstepped the boundaries of what was acceptable’ in the departure lounge at Glasgow Airport.

He warned people not to “let things get out of hand” during the flight, as they could be arrested by Spanish authorities once the plane landed in Tenerife.

The pilot said over the plane’s loudspeakers: ‘The reason I’m standing here is to bring a few things to your attention. I’ve heard that there are people on the plane who are behaving on the edge of what is acceptable in the departure lounge.

Here are the basic rules: Be very, very careful how you conduct yourself on this flight.

‘First of all, this is a family vacation, so I will not tolerate any unwanted behavior on the plane.

“It’s just not fair to everyone else on board and it’s especially not fair to my crew.

“So for those of you who have had a few firsts, great, great that you’re on vacation. That’s what it’s all about, or that’s part of it. Don’t let things get out of hand on this plane.

‘I have a group of cabin crew today who are skilled professionals. You see them serving drinks, meals, duty free items and so on, but in reality they are a critical part of the safety of the aircraft. They are my colleagues and you have to treat them with respect.’

“If they ask you to do something, they do it because I asked them to tell you.”

He added: ‘I’m sorry to have to lay down the rules of the game, but there are a number of people on board the aircraft whose behaviour is approaching the limits of what is acceptable.

“You have now been warned.”

A video of the pilot’s speech was shared on TikTok and the clip has now been viewed nearly a million times.

Craig Roy-Sutherland replied: ‘We were on this flight. The captain was an absolute legend. His headmaster’s speech worked, thankfully.’

Another user said: ‘He’s not angry, he’s just disappointed.’

A third added: ‘I think it’s great that he shouted at the cabin crew. It’s nice to see a captain showing and asking for the respect they deserve.’

A fourth said: ‘Well done Captain. The behaviour of some people on flights these days is terrifying.’

MailOnline has contacted TUI for comment.

The incident comes after another TUI flight from Glasgow was forced to make an emergency landing after a ‘drunk passenger’ who ‘refused to hand over his bottle of gin’ caused chaos in the air.

The flight to Antalya, Turkey, was diverted after less than 45 minutes in May and made an unscheduled landing at Newcastle International Airport.

The attack occurred after a passenger, who was reportedly drunk, assaulted a cabin crew member.

Police officers boarded the TUI TOM778 flight in Newcastle and removed him from the aircraft.

Footage shows the man being dragged from the plane as hundreds of frustrated passengers look on.

Due to the delay, holidaymakers arrived at their destination more than five hours later than planned.

A passenger said: ‘They were seen drunk as they boarded the plane. He refused to hand over his own bottle of gin and became verbally aggressive.’

’45 minutes after take-off, a notification was made that we would be conducting a diversion due to unruly passengers.

‘It took another 45 minutes before we arrived in Newcastle at around 7pm.’

‘Two police officers boarded the plane and handcuffed him, but he became upset, so two more officers came on board.

‘His partner was also thrown off the plane amid loud cheers, while she gave everyone the finger.’

‘There were further delays in removing his baggage from the hold. Cabin crew were replaced due to the serious incident and overtime.’

‘The aircraft was also refueled after burning off excess fuel so that a safe emergency landing could be made.’

After waiting on the platform for five hours, the passenger added: ‘It was clearly stressful for the children on board and frustrating for everyone. The captain personally visited each passenger afterwards to answer questions.’

‘Although the crew was prepared for a scenario, there was slow information about whether we would continue or disembark in Newcastle. They could not let us off the plane because of problems with border control.’

A TUI spokesman said at the time: ‘We would like to apologise to the customers of TOM778 from Glasgow to Antalya, who had to divert to Newcastle due to a passenger causing a disturbance.

‘Our goal is to ensure our customers have the best possible flying experience, so this is not how we wanted their vacation to start.

‘The safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority and unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated.

The customer involved was removed from the aircraft and the aircraft was able to continue its journey.

‘We have shown our customers goodwill in light of this disruption to the start of their holiday and we thank them for their patience and understanding.’
