Hilarious moment NFL fans in Wisconsin hammer drinks after being told they’d be FREE if the Jets lose – only to realize that they’ll have to pay their own tabs after New York pulled out an overtime win over the Packers

The New York Jets secured a remarkable win Monday night despite the injury to their star quarterback — much to the dismay of Packers fans at a Wisconsin bar who had expected to get free drinks.

Hundreds of NFL fans drank drinks at Jack’s American Pub on the east side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the bar ran a promotion to offer free bar tabs if the Jets lost.

The crowd erupted in cheers after former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers left with an injury just minutes after making his debut with the Jets. Although the fans said on the CBS 58 show that they were not against Rodgers personally, they raised their bills to the maximum, expecting a loss at MetLife Stadium to pay their drink bills that night – a dream that never came true.

Xavier Gipson clinched the victory in overtime with a 65-yard punt return touchdown that sent MetLife Stadium into pandemonium as fans at Jack’s American Pub just realized their bar bills were due.

The fans seemed to be in shock and disbelief after Gipson’s long touchdown, dashing their hopes for free drinks.

“I’m not against Rodgers per se, but tonight I’m thinking with my wallet,” Michael Steggeman, wearing a Green Bay Packers jersey, told a local news reporter at the bar. The caption reads: ‘hoping for free drinks’.

As Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd sacked the former Packer on his first drive in his Jets debut, cheers rang out inside Jack’s American Pub.

When he was sacked on the fourth snap by Leonard Floyd of the Buffalo Bills, the crowd cheered again and even louder.

At the time, it seemed like a sure win for the Bills and free drinks for the customers. However, when Gipson danced his way down the sideline for a game-winning 65-yard punt return touchdown, the crossbar was filled with ultimate disappointment.

The Jets confirmed Tuesday that their 39-year-old quarterback suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his left ankle Monday night, just four games into his Jets career.

His first season with the New York Jets is officially over.

Rodgers is still under contract with the Jets for next season. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that there are concerns his Hall of Fame career could be over.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh expressed fears of a season-ending injury after New York’s stunning overtime victory against the visiting Buffalo Bills on Monday night: “It’s not good.”

Rodgers agreed to a two-year, $75 million restructured deal with the Jets in July. Before this move, he played more than 17 years for the Packers, the team where he won his only Super Bowl.

Rodgers learned the Packers wanted to move him, despite telling him the “door is wide open” if he wanted to return to Green Bay in March.

“It was clear to me at that moment that even though the Packers would say the right thing publicly, they were ready to move on,” Rodgers said on Pat McAfee’s podcast.

Rodgers emphasized that he doesn’t feel like a victim, but said he was disappointed the Packers didn’t tell him so after the Packers ended their disappointing 8-9 season in January.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said: “Concerned about his Achilles tendon, MRI will probably confirm what we think is already happening, but it’s not good.”

Saleh’s fears came true Tuesday and now the team will prepare to continue the season with 24-year-old Zach Wilson at quarterback.

A former BYU star and second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, it was Wilson’s struggles over the past two seasons that led the Jets to acquire Rodgers in a blockbuster trade last April.

New York didn’t give up too much to get the four-time MVP from Green Bay. Because of his injury, he won’t play 65 percent of the Jets’ offensive snaps this season, meaning New York will only surrender a second-round pick to Green Bay in the 2024 draft and not a first-round pick, per the terms of trade.
