A grandfather in California fell while trying to put his granddaughter in her crib — and the moment, which he vowed never to show to anyone, went viral on Tiktok.

A year and a half ago, Ramon Aranda put two-year-old Lenna to bed. He picked up the toddler, who was staring at her feet while sucking on a pacifier, unaware of what was soon to come.

The toddler had climbed out of her crib, so her mattress was lowered to keep her inside.

Ramon misjudged the distance as he leaned forward, and one of his legs started to leave the floor.

This was followed by his other leg before all 165 pounds of him fell over the side of the crib, his knees narrowly missing Lenna's face.

Ramon Aranda was putting his granddaughter Lenna to bed when he misjudged the height of her mattress and fell.

As he placed Lenna in her crib, Aranda fell forward, his knees nearly missing the two-year-old's head.

He pulled himself up, adjusted his glasses and stepped out while Lenna looked on imperturbably

Fall took Aranda's phone out of his pocket and flashed a few times before turning off.

Lenna simply watched, motionless, as he pulled himself up, adjusted his glasses, and climbed out of the crib.

He grabbed his granddaughter's bottle and placed it in her hands, then haphazardly covered her with a blanket before leaving.

'I would be ashamed if anyone saw me,' Aranda said CNN's Jeanne Moosgrinning.

However, Aranda's daughter-in-law retrieved the footage from the camera in Lenna's room and posted it to TikTok – where it went viral, sparking amused reactions from netizens and racking up more than 25 million views.

“I just love my granddaughter dearly,” Aranda said. “That's for sure, because that's the only one we have.”

He was able to relive the moment on Tuesday when he was shown the footage of his son Marcos in another moment shared on TikTok.

Aranda burst out laughing when he recognized himself on the screen.

The video was captioned: “Showing Grandpa he went viral… glad we could make so many people laugh, happy holidays!”

The footage was rediscovered a year and a half later and Aranda's son, Marcos, showed it to him. The video went viral on TikTok and was viewed more than 25 million times

Aranda and his daughter-in-law Kelsea appeared on CNN, where Aranda said: 'I would be embarrassed if anyone saw me'

He vowed never to tell his family about the accident, but Kelsea and Marcos discovered the video when they helped him look for his phone, which had fallen in the crib.

Despite the momentary embarrassment, netizens said the video was “so fun to watch” and said they needed the laughs (Photo: Lenna in July 2023)

Lenna's mom, Kelsea Aranda, noted that at the end of the video she was kicking her feet up, waiting for her grandpa to take off her shoes… but he was too shocked to notice.

Aranda did not disclose the accident to his family and was only discovered later when he was looking for his phone, which had been forgotten in the crib.

Despite the embarrassment it may have caused at the time, the video turned him into an overnight Internet celebrity.

'So fun to watch. It was on our local news tonight,” one TikTok user commented, adding, “Good save, grandpa.”

“Grandparents are life's greatest joy,” another woman wrote.

Others commented that they needed the laughs and wished the family a Merry Christmas.
