Dash cam footage captured the horrifying moment when a car snaked across three lanes of a highway, entering a grassy bank before flipping over and landing on its roof.
A silver hatchback appears to the right of the video in the lane next to the median, but suddenly zooms down the A1M, near Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
The car then accelerates up the bank, crashing into trees before flipping over and sliding down the berm onto the roof before coming to rest in the hard shoulder.
In the 30-second clip, a woman’s panicked voice can be heard saying “Oh my God.”
The driver of the vehicle that captured the footage, who wished to remain anonymous, then pulled over on the hard shoulder before assisting, while his wife called 999 for an ambulance.

After pulling open the driver’s door with the help of other passersby, the driver was found unconscious and struggling to breathe with his face pressed against the roof of the overturned car.
The seatbelt was cut and witnesses cleared the man’s airway before emergency services arrived.
“It was only after that that all the feelings came out,” he said. “My wife in the passenger seat was very upset from the moment it all happened until some time after.
“Every day I pass by the scene and keep seeing the accident in front of me. It has had an effect on my driving behaviour, I always drive slower now.’
The driver suffered a medical episode in the southbound carriageway accident in June. The police have not filed any charges.
