Australia is rocked by another alleged shopping centre stabbing as police swoop to arrest teenagers

A teenager has been stabbed after men allegedly armed with machetes fought in another knife attack at an Australian shopping centre.

The alleged gang fight at Melbourne’s Highpoint Shopping Center on Thursday evening is the second at the mall in a week and comes just days after the Westfield Bondi Junction massacre.

In the latest incident, a knife fight broke out between six men near a shopping center cinema in Maribyrnong, Melbourne’s north, at 6.10pm, police allege.

The mass attack is then said to have spread to a nearby restaurant, before police and security guards dressed in stab-proof vests arrived on the scene.

‘Victoria Police were called and subsequently arrived within minutes.

‘We are assisting Victoria Police with their investigation, and as this is now a police matter we cannot comment further.

‘The safety of all visitors, retailers and staff is our highest priority at all times.’

An 18-year-old man from St Albans was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds to his arm.

Three other teens, ages 17 and 18, were arrested at the scene, with the 17-year-old charged with several assault and weapons charges.

He was released on bail and will return to juvenile court at a later date.

The incident comes after a 19-year-old man was arrested and charged following an alleged stabbing at the popular shopping center on Sunday.

The alleged stabbing in the city’s west happened around 2:30 p.m., police said, with two men involved in the altercation at a restaurant.

A 19-year-old man suffered suspected stab wounds and paramedics took him to hospital for treatment.
