Father David Lancini, who served as a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Townsville, Far North Queensland, for 49 years, has been charged with eight counts of indecent treatment of boys under the age of 14.
A high-profile priest has been charged with child abuse he allegedly committed more than fifty years ago.
Father David Lancini, who served as a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Townsville, Far North Queensland, for 49 years, has been charged with eight counts of indecent treatment of boys under the age of 14.
The charges relate to crimes allegedly committed between 1969 and 1971.
It is understood the charges relate to one child who was living in Townsville at the time.
Lancini, 77, was charged Nov. 13.
A spokesperson for the Catholic Diocese of Townsville said Lancini “strongly denies any involvement in the alleged offences”.

“Father Dave Lancini is not currently involved in any prosecution until the legal process is completed,” they said.
