The local birdlife and gently flowing waters create a natural soundtrack for the journey through the pristine bush, past a series of trickling falls and over incredible natural rock formations.

As the multi-tiered falls along Frenchs Creek are seasonal, they are best visited in winter rather than the dry summer months, especially after a bout of rain when the stream is full and flowing.

How to get to Frenchs Creek Trail

Frenchs Creek Falls are roughly a 30 minutes’ drive away from Sydney CBD, or just 10 minutes’ from Frenchs Forest.

From Frenchs Forest travel north on Forest Way, then turn left onto Glen St.

On a round-about turn right onto Pringle Ave, then turn left onto Haigh Ave.

In 600m turn right onto Wanniti Rd. Leave your car at the end of the road (200m). The road is a sealed one.

There is no car park as such; also there are no facilities there (no toilets), but there is a track sign there.

From the end of the road follow Frenchs Creek Track, which is a downhill walk for 5 minutes until you reach a side track (on your right) which brings you to the top of the first waterfall.

From here, continue on to the main trail for roughly 15 more minutes and you will hear the second waterfall. An un-official path leads to the falls’ base. Take extra care.

Frenchs Creek is a well-kept secret in the hiking community so those wanting to visit will have to know where to look.

The track starts from the end of Wanniti Road, a suburban street in Belrose, where a small sign indicates the beginning of the trail.

Sydneysiders have braved the moderately challenging route to experience its natural beauty with one calling it ‘absolutely breathtaking’

‘So lovely to be in the bush listening to birds, bees and running water. Can’t believe it’s so close to home,’ wrote one recent visitor.

Visitors are warned to take extra care in some areas of the trail as they are steep, rocky and narrow.
