‘He’ll be here!’: Jets general manager Joe Douglas delights New York audiences by revealing on stage that Aaron Rodgers will be joining them… after weeks of silence over blockbuster trading
New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas tried to allay fans’ fears that a deal for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be shelved
Jets fans have been waiting for weeks to get their new franchise quarterback after Rodgers announced he would like to move to Florham Park.
Despite his public disclosure of a trade request on The Pat McAfee Show on March 15, Rodgers has come no closer to leaving Green Bay.
But during a public appearance alongside CBS NFL analyst Boomer Esiason at an event for New York sports radio station WFAN, Douglas gave chase.
When Esaison asked if Rodgers would eventually join Gang Green, Douglas replied, “He’ll be here,” which led to cheers from the crowd.

It had been three weeks since Rodgers publicly requested a trade with the New York Jets
Rodgers said the Jets and Packers are now working on compensation for the player’s services
It’s been over three weeks since Rodgers went on his friend McAfee’s show to tell the world he wanted to get out of Green Bay and move to the New York metro area.
“My intention is to play for the New York Jets,” Rodgers told McAfee.
“I haven’t held anything back at this point,” Rodgers added, claiming to have received interest from other teams. “It’s been some compensation the Packers are trying to get for me, and they’re putting their heels in a little bit.”
The Jets were poised for a possible playoff spot in the early weeks of the 2022 season, but their lack of a consistent quarterback due to sloppy play from Zach Wilson and injuries from Mike White put them out of contention.
