A lack of movement on a trade for Aaron Rodgers shouldn’t be cause for concern as Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari says the quarterback will eventually move to the New York Jets.
While it’s been weeks since Rodgers told Pat McAfee he wanted to be traded to Gang Green, no trade has materialized to date.
Assurances have been given by Jets general manager Joe Douglas, but time has passed and Rodgers is no closer to buying property near Florham Park.
Bakhtiari, who protected Rodgers for years in Green Bay, says the quarterback will likely eventually end up with the Jets.
“I think that’s probably been discontinued,” Bakhtiari said, according to CBS Sports.

Rodgers said in March that he wants to go to the Jets, but that the team leaders have not yet made a deal
Bakhtiari says the team will play without Rodgers to allow for a necessary rebuild
“Could the Packers be really good? Yes, I certainly hope so and would love that, but I’d also be ignorant not to say this looks like a remodel.
“I think the simplest thing is that they will [the Packers] get whatever choices they want, they get it before the draft, and then time will tell. He’s going to be a Jet.’
Bakhtiari has been with the Packers since 2013 after being called up from Colorado and earned two first-team All-Pro selections, three second-team All-Pro selections, and three Pro-Bowl selections.
Speaking on the podcast, Bakhtiari revealed that the Packers are comfortable leaving Rodgers regardless of whether a deal is made or not, as the team is ready to begin a rebuilding process.
“The Packers are rebuilding whether you think so or not,” Bakhtiari said. ‘[People will say] “Could they be any good, I don’t know.” More people are thinking [the Packers are] will be more bad than good, right?
That’s fair to say. Than, [the Packers] will say, “We’re gonna suck anyway, we want what we want, and we don’t bend to anyone, so we just eat [Aaron Rodgers’ contract]. Stay unretired, we’ll pay you.
“We don’t care because if we’re going to do it our way, it’s going to be on our terms. If not, what are we going to be Super Bowl contenders anyway? We’ll eat it, [Rodgers] can hang on the side, pay you your money, we’ll suck anyway, and get [better draft] choices.”‘
