‘He’s class’: Gary Neville lumps praise on Mohamed Salah for providing two ‘beautiful’ passes to help Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo score against Newcastle

Gary Neville has praised Mohamed Salah for providing a number of 'beautiful' passes to set up goals for his Liverpool teammates Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo during the Red's 4-2 win against Newcastle.

Despite missing a penalty in the first half, Salah had given the home side the lead by tapping in Darwin Nunez's cross. Newcastle would level through Alexander Isak and go one-on-one with Alisson before firing home the equalizer.

Salah would then play an excellent pass into the penalty area, allowing Diogo Jota Jones to take the lead, before setting up Gakpo not long afterwards to give Liverpool a 3-1 lead.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Jones' goal, Neville said: 'Finally… Since that first goal came he's had to save a mountain of shots [Dubravka].

'Liverpool broke out, they were by far the better team. They should be two, three, four ahead. They play it the full length of the field.

'I actually wondered if the changes at Liverpool had weakened them a bit. But it was Mo Salah's pass that is beautiful, it's an absolutely brilliant pass. It's just that little reverse pass right across the open net. Jota is doing what Nunez previously did for Salah, but this time for Curtis Jones.”

Shortly after the Reds scored again, Neville added: “That scoreline is starting to look like it should as the game goes on.

'Mo Salah just turned it on in the last five minutes with some great passes into the penalty area. Beautiful on the outside of the left boot. He's class. A difficult first half for him because he missed the penalty, but he is performing well for his team.'
