Herschel Walker says abortion claims are a lie and suggests son Christian is getting PAID by rivals

Georgian Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker on Wednesday emphatically denied paying for an abortion or even having a conversation with the woman who accused him of it.

In his first network interview since the allegations came out last week, pro-life Walker told ABC News’ Good Morning America, “Yeah, she’s lying, yes she’s lying, yes she’s lying.”

The former soccer star’s campaign took a hit when the Daily Beast reported that he allegedly asked an ex-girlfriend for an abortion in 2009 and paid for it. The bombshell grew when the outlet subsequently reported that the woman is the mother of one of Walker’s four children – and that he allegedly pressured her to have a second abortion, which she declined.

He went one step further, suggesting that his son Christian Walker, who has vocally criticized his father in the wake of the report, was being “paid” by his political opponents.

“I hope they pay him a little. But I love him to death,” Walker said in a separate interview with Fox News, also published Wednesday morning

In a preview clip shared Tuesday night, Walker dismissed the idea that his self-proclaimed struggle with amnesia could have resulted in him simply forgetting about the problem.

“That used to be… that was about 20 years ago?” he said.

President Biden offered a brief analysis on Wednesday when asked about his opinion on the ongoing scandal and whether he thinks Democrats will keep Georgia’s Senate seat.

“Negative and yes,” the president replied.

Walker, who insists he is pro-life and has gone out of his way to criticize absentee black fathers, also denied the woman’s accusations that he has only seen their 10-year-old son in person on three occasions.

“Well, that’s not true. I’ve seen him a little more than that. But that’s one of the things I don’t get into because they make it hard for me to see him,” Walker said Wednesday morning.

He said of his four children, “If they need me, they know how to call me.”

However, he also downplayed the recent emotional outbursts of his 23-year-old son Christian Walker, the only one of his children to be mentioned in public, after the young adult took to Twitter to vent about his alleged abusive tendencies and lack of concern. father. for his family.

Christian, a conservative social media star, said last week in the wake of the allegations: “He has four children, four different wives. Wasn’t in the house raising any of them.”

“I love Christian and that’s so funny, I love Christian and I’ve always loved Christian,” Walker said. “They know I’ve been through everything with my son and that’s what I say.”

In his interview with Fox News published Wednesday morning, Walker insinuated that his son was being bribed by his political rivals.

‘I love him to death. I hope they pay him. I’ve been paying his rent for a long time. So I hope they pay him a little. But I love him to death,” said the ex-NFL player.

He also downplayed the anger of his 23-year-old son Christian, who accused him of threatening his life and that of his mother, Walker’s ex-wife, and proclaiming his hypocrisy about “family values.”

He accused Democrats “making up anything they can think of” to derail his campaign with the midterm elections less than a month away.

Walker’s bid to fire freshman Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock is one of the tightest races of the entire 2022 cycle.

He told Fox of his opponents, “They don’t realize they’ve awakened a grizzly bear.”

“Now they have a fight on their side. Before I just beat them a little bit. Now I’m going to beat them a lot,” Walker said.

A recent poll by Emerson shows he is just a few points behind Warnock. The previous setup of the investigation, before the abortion allegations surfaced, showed Walker having a slight lead.

Despite the controversy, he continued to insist that he is pro-life and a strict adherent of Christianity.

Asked if he supports an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest, Walker told ABC: “The Georgia heartbeat law explains all of that. I said that. It is in a democratic process of the people, and that is what I have said. I said, guys, I believe in life. I am a christian.’

The law, which came into effect in the summer of Peach state, bans abortions after six weeks, unless it involves rape or incest, but only if reported to the police.

He also got emotional during the ABC interview when asked why he was running, insisting it’s not about politics.

Christian had previously accused Walker of diving into the race, despite pleas from his family not to participate.

“I’ve told everyone: I’m not participating because I want to be a senator. I run because I’m sick and tired, people are dying, people can’t eat because of the people in Washington—what they’re doing to people,” Walker said in a trembling voice.

‘And then they lie. This is not a new normal. Let’s make it clear.’
