The brave pooch has helped catch several dangerous criminals since joining the force in November 2021, along with his handler Constable Jayden Elphick.

“They had an incredible bond and worked hard to keep our community safe,” WA Police said.

“PD Ace was a dedicated and hardworking member of the police force.

“He will be greatly missed.”

Constable Elphick spoke to WA Police’s Persons of Interest podcast in February and spoke of Ace as his “best friend” and a “very good boy”.

“He is very well trained and over the years we have developed a great bond with each other,” he said.

“He’s a beautiful boy, but he knows how to turn it on when he needs to turn it on.

“He’s very furry, but he’s also very cute.”
