Hero Jeremy Renner was trying to save his nephew from being run over by his 14,000lb Pistunbully snowcat who began to slide out of control when he ran over him leaving him with 30 broken bones and continued down the trail.
Actor Jeremy Renner was trying to save his nephew when his snowplow began to slide, when it was swept away and crushed on New Year’s Day in Nevada.
The snowplow’s parking brake was not engaged and would have stopped the horrific accident, according to an incident report filed by the Nevada sheriff’s office.
The 14,000-pound PistenBully snowmobile began sliding sideways after the 52-year-old Avengers star used it to pull his adult nephew’s truck out of the snow.
The huge vehicle completely ran over the Hollywood star, leaving him with 30 broken bones, and continued down the highway.
“The Pistenbully snow groomer began to slide, causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake,” the report states. according to CNNwho obtained the report through a public records request.
“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical problems, based on our mechanical inspection, it is believed that the parking brake would prevent the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or swerve the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), the track swept him under the vehicle and struck him.
CNN said the report indicates that “mechanical problems may have been a factor in this accident” and notes that the brake indicator light inside the cab of the snowplow was not working.
Renner’s nephew was able to help the actor until emergency services arrived on the scene, the report says. He was airlifted to the hospital, where he stayed for more than two weeks and underwent at least two surgeries.
This is breaking news. More to follow…
