Here’s your first fantastical look at Shadow and Bone season 2

Netflix has released the first teaser for Shadow and Bone season 2.
The first-look trailer, which was unveiled at Tudum 2022, offers just the shortest teases during the show’s next season. Despite being only 40 seconds long, it packs in a lot of footage in its short time, with numerous fast-paced clips providing a tantalizing look at what will happen in the series’ second outing.

There’s not much we can really deduce from the fast-paced nature of this trailer. But there are a few things that are sure to pique the interest of fans of the hit Netflix show.
We get a first look at all the major characters that will star in the second season of Shadow and Bone, including Patrick Gibson’s Nikolai Lantsov, Lewis Tan’s Tolya Yul-Battar, Anna Leong Brophy’s Tamar Kir-Battar, and Jack Wolfe’s Wylan Hendriks .
The footage also shows that the show’s next outing will see plenty of fantasy-based action and drama. We see Archie Renaux’s Mal on the run from the law, Calahan Skogman’s Matthias being handcuffed and led away, and Wylan joining the Dregs. We also witness Nikolai telling Jessie Mei Li’s Alina Starkov that she’s a symbol, and Ben Barnes’ Darkling asking someone what they’re willing to sacrifice to achieve their goals, in between some tense set moments.
No release date was revealed beyond the sneak peak, but Netflix confirmed that season 2 of Shadow and Bone will be with us sometime in 2023. Shooting for the second season wrapped up in early June, so post-production work is in full swing. The first-look trailer contains no VFX or CGI elements, but that’s in the works (or rather, type).
We’ve previously speculated that the next episode of Shadow and Bone will arrive in Spring 2023 (that’s Fall 2023 for those in the Southern Hemisphere). Fingers crossed, we’re right, but we’d be happy to wait longer if it means Shadow and Bone Season 2 is as good as this teaser makes it out to be.
