Here’s how iPhone users can replace Siri with ChatGPT and control AI with their voice

How YOU can replace Siri with ChatGPT on your iPhone to harness the powers of AI with the sound of your voice – but there’s a catch

A new shortcut allows Apple users to “replace” Siri with the revolutionary AI program ChatGPT on their iPhones and iPads.

The technique effectively upgrades Siri with the full power of the chatbot, giving it the ability to dictate emails, suggest recipes, and even write lyrics from scratch with a basic prompt of just a few words.

The device continues to respond with Apple’s voice, but it uses the chatbot’s algorithms and is no longer limited in length.

However, only people who have a premium developer version of ChatGPT can replace their Siri with the AI model.

This is how you activate it:

Shortcut allows you to control ChatGPT by voice (Twitter)

The shortcut was invented by AI software builder Wrigley McKay.

Once enabled, simply tap the screen and speak to ChatGPT as if you were speaking to Siri (as always with ChatGPT, it’s best to speak in natural language).

McKay wrote on Twitter, “I created an iOS shortcut that lets you replace Siri with ChatGPT. It blows Siri out of the water.”

Using the shortcut (you can enable it by tapping the screen or by asking Siri ‘Hey GPT’), you can get spoken answers from ChatGPT.

Enabling the shortcut is easy, just follow this link on iPhone or iPad device.

On the screen, you need to select ‘Get Shortcut’ and then ‘Open in Shortcuts’.

You will then be prompted to add your OpenAI API key – you can find it here if you have an OpenAI account.

You need to press Get Shortcut and then Open in Shortcuts

Follow this link to enable it and choose a paid model

To use the shortcut, just tap the screen and speak while the timer is displayed.

Responses occasionally take a few seconds, but are generally almost as fast as Siri itself.

ChatGPT averaged 13 million daily users in January, making it the fastest-growing Internet app of all time, according to analytics firm CompareWeb.

It took TikTok about nine months after its global launch to reach 100 million users, and Instagram more than two years.

OpenAI, a private company backed by Microsoft Corp., made ChatGPT available to the public for free at the end of November.
