Here Comes the Habibs star Camilla Ah Kin dies at age 58 as former co-star Rob Shehadie pays tribute: ‘Australia fell in love with you’

Here Comes the Habibs actress Camilla Ah Kin has passed away after a long illness.

Her passing was announced this weekend on the official Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) Twitter.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must share the news that Camilla Ah Kin passed away last night in Sydney aged 58 after a long battle with illness,” they wrote.

Camilla was an activist for and within the artist community for 30 years. RIP,” the post continued.

Camilla’s former Here Comes the Habibs co-star Rob Shehadie also shared his own tribute on Twitter.

“Rest in peace Camilla,” he captioned a photo of the couple together on the red carpet.

“Australia fell in love with you as Miriam in Here Comes the Habibs. You will be missed,” he captioned the image.

Here Comes the Habibs aired on Channel Nine between 2016 and 2017, and Camilla starred as matriarch Mariam Habib in the comedy.

The celebrated performer had dozens of acting credits to her name in film, television and on stage.

She was known for her work in feature films Holding the Man, The Greenhouse, and The Rooster.

Camilla appeared on the TV shows Going Home, Halifax fp, Blue Heelers and All Saints.

On stage, she starred in The Hansard Monologues, Romeo and Juliet and The Nightwatchman and was the Sydney Fringe Festival Ambassador for 2016.
