‘Here is another “cheap fake” video’: Trump campaign mocks Biden over footage of him getting into a SUV as White House insists clips are ‘edited’

  • The White House has made efforts to strengthen Biden’s “freeze.”
  • The Trump camp is now distributing a video of Biden slowly getting into his SUV

Donald Trump’s campaign is distributing more videos of President Biden in an effort to mock the attacks of “cheap fakes” on the White House – this time showing him slowly climbing into his government SUV.

The ‘Trump War Room’ Twitter Account Posted a snarky post stating that the “barely ambulant” Biden was having a “tough time” getting into his riding.

Trump campaigned against senior adviser Chris LaCivita and then amplified the attack, writing, “Here’s another ‘cheap fake’ video.” Another senior Trump adviser, Jason Miller, wondered, “ASK WHY F. JOE BIDEN CAN’T EVEN STAND IN A CAR WITHOUT HELP???”

The attacks underscore how a persistent front in the 2024 race will be the promulgation and interpretation of viral video elements that affect the candidates’ age and mental capacity.

The videos themselves — and the White House’s attacks on Republicans for promoting them — fuel the cycle of attention about the two candidates’ ages and attitudes.

Five months before Election Day, even small clips of Biden momentarily stuttering or garbled words are being circulated on social media platforms.

The Trump camp is laying the groundwork just eight days before Biden, 81, will face Trump, 78, in the first presidential debate, which will give millions of Americans a chance to compare the two figures.

The latest video doesn’t show Biden falling, freezing or even making a signature gaffe — he just slowly gets into his armored SUV after landing in Delaware during a trip to his beach house. A Secret Service agent positions himself to protect the president as he carefully positions himself and talks to another person in the vehicle.

“Excuse me, I didn’t know dancing was a mental issue — a health issue,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said as she defended the president’s dance-free moments during a Juneteenth celebration at the White House .

Biden often uses the smaller alternative to “The Beast,” his armored limousine, when he visits his beach house in Rehoboth.

The push from the Trump camp comes after days of investigation into videos of Biden “freezing” during public events. Videos that have gone viral include clips of Biden greeting a paratrooper after walking away from other world leaders at the G7, and standing motionless for a few sentences as other people swayed during a Juneteenth celebration at the White House.

In another clip, he stood still as former President Obama pointed to cheering supporters and stood aside, then led Biden to the exit. That event came after Biden spent about half an hour answering questions from host Jimmy Kimmel.

The White House has criticized conservatives for deliberately magnifying or misinterpreting information. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called them “cheap counterfeits.”

“It’s also very insulting to the people, the viewers who watch it. And so we think we should call that out. We call them cheap fakes. That’s something that came straight from the media by calling it that, from the fact checkers and calling it that. And so we will certainly be very, very clear about that as well. And calling out where we are, where we stand,” she said on MSNBC on Tuesday.

The White House did not immediately respond Wednesday to a question about the limousine video, a federal holiday that Biden signed into law.

Trump himself has had some stumbles, such as when he demanded Biden take a cognitive test at a weekend campaign rally only to repeatedly get the name wrong from the former White House physician and Texas Rep. Dr. Ronnie Jackson. (Trump called him Ronny Johnson).
