Henry Cavill appears in The Witcher season 3 trailer before Liam Hemsworth takes over the lead role

Netflix released an action-packed trailer for the much-anticipated third season of The Witcher on Thursday, starring Henry Cavill. The Hollywood heartthrob reprises his role as Geralt of Rivia for the last time.

The series – recently renewed for a fifth season – will release part one of season three on June 29, and part two will stream on July 27.

This season marks the Superman star’s final appearance as a beast hunter before Liam Hemsworth takes over the lead role for season four.

The beloved series follows the journey of a mutated monster and witch hunter as he travels through mythical lands to slay supernatural beasts.

Geralt is one of the few remaining Witchers on the continent and he struggles to make his way in the evil world, as others often misunderstand him.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from Geralt saying, “Neutrality, it won’t help you get a statue, but it sure will help keep you alive.”

The Witcher is shown traveling on horseback alongside characters Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allan), as they adjust to their new life together as a family.

The trio are shown traveling through barren landscapes while sharing tender moments mixed with daring sword fights and perilous obstacles.

The scenes flash in quick edits between multiple battles with enemies and monsters possessing otherworldly powers.

In an ominous voiceover, The Witcher reveals “the dangers we have seen portend an even more menacing future.”

The fearless warrior is then shown kissing Chalotra’s character in a forest before admitting, “For the first time, I understand real fear.”

In season three, as monarchs, mages, and beasts of the continent battle to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri under, determined to protect his newly reunited family from those who threaten to destroy it.

Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers.

Joey Batey returns as Jaskier, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Anna Shaffer as Triss, and Kim Bodnia as Vesemir.

The Witcher’s Twitter account posted alongside the trailer, “Chaos is coming. Season 3 of The Witcher begins June 29 #thewitcher.”

It was announced that Hemsworth, 33, would replace Cavill in the Netflix series in October 2022.

Season four of the show continues as initially planned, with Hemsworth starring.

It came after Cavill stepped down from his role of Superman amid a huge shakeup at Warner Bros.

The British actor last appeared as Superman at the end of Warner Bros. Black Adam, teasing a showdown between Superman and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.

Interestingly, the British actor recently made a cameo appearance as Superman at the end of Warner Bros. Black Adam, teasing a showdown between Superman and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam

Cavill’s departure came just days before James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed as the new heads of DC Films.

“I just met with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. After all, I won’t be returning as Superman,” Cavill wrote on Instagram.

The actor went on to talk about the future of the franchise, writing, “But then we mustn’t forget… Superman is still here. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he gives us are still there!’

Fans are now on the hunt for Cavill plays another iconic role: James Bond. Cavill previously revealed that he was in the running for the role in 2005, but lost out to Daniel Craig.
