A Ukrainian military helicopter went down next to a nursery school full of children on the outskirts of Kyiv this morning, and authorities said there have been multiple casualties.
The aircraft went down in the Ukrainian city of Brovary, located northeast of the capital, on Wednesday morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene.
“In the city of Brovary, a helicopter fell near a kindergarten and a residential building,” said the head of the Kyiv regional administration, Oleksiy Kuleba, adding that “there were children and employees in the kindergarten. There are registered victims”. ‘
A presidential aide said checks were being carried out on the victims, amid fears that children were still inside the burning building. Initial reports said there were at least two deaths and that some children had been evacuated.
Videos shared on social media showed a building on fire and a large spread of flames nearby. Witness reports said an object resembling a helicopter or drone crashed into or near the daycare building.

“We are getting information about the victims and the circumstances,” Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, wrote on the Telegram messaging app. The reason for the crash was not immediately clear.
A video appeared to show a playground on fire and covered in rubble.
Early reports were unclear as to whether a helicopter or drone had crashed in the residential district.
It was later reported that a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten in Brovary, kyiv region, said the deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko.
He said that two people died as a result of the accident and that there was a fire at the crash site.
The accident comes days after a Russian missile struck a residential building in Dnipro on Saturday, killing at least 45 people, including six children.
