Two people have miraculously survived after a helicopter crash in Sydney’s south-west.

The single-engine plane crashed into the ground at the Bankstown Aerodrome on Airport Avenue, near Marion Street, just before 2pm on Thursday.

When the helicopter hit the ground, it rolled onto its side, sustaining extensive damage to the propeller and part of the fuselage.

Fire and Rescue NSW immediately dispatched ten firefighters and three trucks to the scene.

The pilot and an instructor were able to walk away from the crash unharmed after paramedics cleared them.

A helicopter fell from the sky in Sydney’s south-west just before 2pm on Thursday and suffered extensive damage to its propellers and fuselage during the emergency landing.

The occupants, a driver and an instructor, were miraculously able to walk away from the wreck unharmed after paramedics gave them the go-ahead.

Firefighters cleaned up a small fuel spill that had leaked from the crashed helicopter and suppressed fibers from the wreckage that posed a health risk.

Police are now investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
