HONOLULU — The U.S. Coast Guard and authorities in Hawaii responded after a hiker reported a helicopter crashed into the ocean off the island of Kauai on Thursday.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, there were three people on board the Robinson R44 helicopter that crashed off the Na Pali coast around 2 p.m. Thursday.
The hiker reported witnessing the crash, said Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Corinne Zilnicki.
No immediate information was available on injuries or casualties.
The National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation.
