Helen Flanagan admits she was an ‘absolute psychopath’ waiting for ex Scott Sinclair to propose as she discusses breakup for first time in candid chat

Helen Flanagan has admitted she was an “absolute psychopath” waiting for her ex-fiance Scott Sinclair to propose in a candid conversation.

The former Coronation Street actress, 31, first discussed their breakup, after calling off her engagement to the footballer last summer.

While sharing the pre-recorded clips on her Instagram story on Thursday, Helen reflected on her life since then and the “major adjustment” she’s faced as a single mother of three.

The soap star revealed she still wears her ring, albeit on her other hand, and laughed to herself as she recalled Scott’s proposal at Disneyland in 2018.

She began, “I really like being honest about situations. I try to do that with motherhood, it was a weird adjustment for me.”

Helen continued, “Actually for the past year. I was with my fiancé for a very long time – when I was 19 to 31 and he was my whole world.

“I still wear my engagement ring, but I wear it on my other finger because I love it. It’s my grandmother’s wedding ring.

Plus, it took him long enough to propose, it’s nice to keep all the good memories. Matilda was there at Disneyland Paris and it was really cute. I remember thinking “when is he going to propose?!”

Helen, who was pregnant with their second child at the time, explained, “I was like ‘where’s my ring?’ all my friends were so relived when he finally did it because I was just so crazy about it. I was like, “This is our second child.”‘

“He waited until the very last minute and he knew I was absolutely crazy about it!

‘I could barely walk because of my feet. My ankles were so swollen and my feet were so swollen. I struggled the entire pregnancy. I could barely walk and he knows how I am with my Insta photos. I had a round head and my glasses on. It was so funny.’

When she first spoke about their breakup, she added, “Shortly after we broke up I made sure to do the jungle, it was perfect timing and a great distraction. Then I went into home renovation by myself.

“Before that, I had a boyfriend when I was 17. All my adult life – I’ve never been single or alone. So that took some getting used to for me last year.’

The actress admitted she felt lonely in January after she and Scott split in July, adding, “When I was younger, I was so in love with him.”

But continued, “Would I actually want to be in a full-on relationship with someone where it’s all intense and talking about marriage?” Absolutely not.’

In her lengthy online video, she confessed that she’s still working on herself and said of future relationships, “I don’t know if I’m really ready to talk about dating. At some point I would, but not now, but I found someone who was very nice to me and we are still very good friends and he was lovely.

“He just made me feel beautiful and he made me feel special, which was nice. I think it’s a pretty big thing, especially if you’ve had kids and I think it’s important, like who do you choose to spend your time with.”
