Heidi Klum left struggling to keep calm as she lifts the lid on ‘suffocating’ Halloween costume experience
Heidi Klum undergoes massive transformations every year in her quest to terrify fans with her sensationally ambitious Halloween looks.
But it is the model herself who is terrified of the ‘claustrophobic’ costumes, which leave her unable to hear and struggling to stay calm.
Heidi, 51, has earned the title of Halloween queen thanks to the extravagant costumes she wears each season. She has been wowing fans around the world for years with her extravagant looks at her annual Heidiween party.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, she talks about the tough mental preparations she goes through behind the scenes, revealing that this year’s costume is already in full swing.
‘The best thing is when I have a good idea and I feel like it has happened, but then [I’ll let] “Everyone can judge that for themselves,” she said.
‘Once I step onto that red carpet, the hardest part is always the day itself. I literally get into it.
Heidi Klum has admitted she feels ‘claustrophobic’ and has to fight to stay calm in her extravagant Halloween costumes
Last year, the 51-year-old model made a striking entrance as a peacock at her annual Halloween party at Marquee in New York City
‘People get into, let’s say, a boxing ring. Not that I have to work hard, but I have to go in there and stay calm, because when you have so much stuff hanging over you and you’re going through things like this, you have to stay calm and take a lot of time.
‘And because you get claustrophobic from all that glued stuff, your skin can’t breathe and it feels tight or something.’
Explaining how suffocating her costumes can be, Heidi added, “You can’t move properly. You can’t hear people properly.
“I always know before I start, but I do it for the art and for the surprise. I hope I blow people’s minds because I know people are watching and waiting to see what I’m going to do.
‘And I don’t take that lightly. I feel honored that people really want to know what I’ve come up with again.
“So I don’t want to disappoint people. I always give 150 percent and I hope people are happy with what I’ve come up with.”
Heidi is known for going above and beyond, once spending 10 hours getting prosthetics fitted to her body to transform into a giant ringworm, despite her team begging her not to.
Last year, the model made a striking entrance as a peacock at her annual Halloween party at Marquee in New York City, joined by her daughter Leni, her boyfriend Aris Rachevsky and her husband Tom Kaulitz, dressed as an egg.

Heidi Shocks With Her 2019 Halloween Costume, Which Sees Her Transforming Into A Prosthetic Alien Science Experiment
Heidi started the tradition in 2000, showing off her supermodel figure in tight, black leather outfits.
Her costumes are not the least, but she does wear costumes such as Fiona from Shrek, a man-eating space alien, and Michael Jackson as a werewolf from his music video for Thriller.
When she’s not wowing the world with her Halloween acts, Heidi is busy judging America’s Got Talent alongside comedian Howie Mandel, Modern Family star Sofia Vergara and creator Simon Cowell.
Although she is used to criticizing the contestants on the show, she herself does not handle being judged well. She reveals that she filter out the online noise by turning off comments on her social media.
Heidi also revealed to DailyMail.com that she turns off her social media comments because she doesn’t want to see people judging her
“I probably get judged all the time,” she said. “The good thing is I don’t hear much of it. That’s also why I don’t turn on my social media features, because I don’t want to hear the judgment.
‘I just do what I think I should do, without people telling me what I should and shouldn’t do.
‘So, I know I get judged all the time, and it’s been that way since I started in this industry, especially as a model. That’s what people do.
‘First they judge you by your appearance. Then by what you say, what you do, what you eat, what you don’t eat.
“I feel like I’m used to it, but I was probably judged tonight when I was sitting there judging.”
