Heavily pregnant accused murderer Rhylee Stig’s ‘baby daddy’ is charged with the same gruesome gang murder – as details emerge about the now co-accused jailhouse lovers

The ‘baby daddy’ of an expectant mother has been charged with the same alleged underworld murder his heavily pregnant partner was accused of two months ago.

Michael Tuite, 30, was arrested behind bars at Sydney’s Silverwater Prison and charged with the alleged shooting murder of David Stemler, whose heavily tattooed body was left on a public street near a school in Sydney’s west last year.

Tuite’s partner, Rhylee Stig, 23, is due to give birth to their child in May but has also been charged with the same murder, along with a third suspect, Sione Langi, 27.

Langi and Stig were arrested and charged in February when she was refused bail, and she was locked up just meters away from Tuite at the Silverwater Women’s prison while seven months pregnant.

The former Hunter Valley schoolgirl worked as a Services and Programs Officer at Wellington Correctional Center before leaving NSW Corrective Services amid allegations she had a romantic relationship with an inmate.

Stig has been behind bars since she was denied bail by police after being charged with her murder arrest at her Wetherill Park home on February 21.

However, on Friday Stig successfully applied for bail in the NSW Supreme Court.

Rhylee Peta Stig, 23 (above) was charged with the execution murder of David Stemler in Canterbury in Sydney’s west last July and spent five weeks in prison but is now applying for bail pending the upcoming birth of her baby

Due to her pregnancy, she was not handcuffed when she was first taken into custody by detectives.

NSW Police video shows heavily pregnant Stig being led to a police car before being taken to Fairfield police station and charged with Mr Stemler’s murder.

Ferenc ‘David’ Stemler, 28, was reportedly shot outside his home in Canterbury, in Sydney’s west, last year amid Sydney’s deadly gangland war.

Before Tuite was charged with Mr Stemler’s murder, he was in custody following a shooting on August 13 last year in Fairfield Heights.

NSW Police Taskforce Magnus claims he fired a single shot from a car as the 20-year-old alleged victim approached him.

He was charged in that case with shooting with intent to murder and discharging a firearm in or near a public place.

Detectives allege Mr Stemler was shot dead as he approached a white Commodore Broughton Street in Canterbury between 1.55am and 2am on July 27, 2023.

Police allege that Mr. Tuite was inside the Commodore at the time Mr. Stemler approached it.

Mr Stemler was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died.

In shocking scenes on the morning of July 27 last year, his tattooed and bloodied body was left in plain view in the middle of the road as children in their school uniforms walked past.

Last week, police released CCTV footage relating to Mr Stemler’s death, showing a white Lexus, allegedly stolen in July last year, arriving at a car park in Casula Central at around 10.25pm on July 18, 2023 .

Police believe the driver of the Lexus was lying in wait for the planned shooting, which was ‘controlled’ by a black hatchback on July 20 and again by a dark-colored hatchback on July 24.

It’s unclear who police will allege pulled the trigger on Stemler. His death came after he met two men outside his rental home on Broughton St.

Local police, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s homicide unit, launched an investigation before the case was dealt with by Task Force Magnus under Strike Force Murrell.

Task Force Magnus was established in July as a policing strategy to tackle and disrupt gun-related and violent crime, and to investigate links between recent organized criminal activity in Sydney.

Deputy Commissioner Michael Fitzgerald said the arrests were of major importance to the State Crime Command’s Task Force Magnus.

“While the work is never truly done, this is a tremendous achievement for our Command, which was given the difficult task of disrupting the brutal violence we saw unfold in our streets.

“Task Force Magnus has complemented their range of capabilities with both proactive and reactive teams, to not only target perpetrators, but also prevent more acts of violence on our streets.

“The safety of our wider community is – and always will be – our first priority, and the people of NSW our motivation to come up with such a significant response; one that has clearly had remarkable success.”

The investigation, led by Strike Force Murrell, continues.
