Heathrow hails a great Easter escape as millions of passengers fly abroad
Heathrow had a great Easter break as millions of passengers departed.
The airport said yesterday it handled more than 6.2 million passengers in March – 1 million more than in February.
And as a sign that the Easter break was particularly busy, the last day of March was one of the busiest days at the airport since 2019 as schools broke up and families moved away.

On March 31 alone, some 221,606 passengers traveled via Heathrow.
The airport insisted that “service levels were excellent” despite strikes.
Heathrow chief executive John Holland-Kaye, who is stepping down this year, said: “I am very proud of the way colleagues have worked together to ensure that passengers have a smooth departure during their Easter break.”
