Heartbroken single mom films herself weeping as she reveals the worst thing about celebrating a birthday without a partner

  • Elizabeth Teckenbrock, 29, has received more than 37 million views on the TikTok video
  • She has since deleted all her social media after internet trolls left comments

A heartbroken single mum went viral after filming herself sobbing as she revealed the worst thing about celebrating a birthday without a partner.

Elizabeth Teckenbrock, known as @morethanelizabeth on TikTok, uploaded a video earlier this week of herself baking a birthday cake with tears streaming down her face.

“As a single mom, you make your own birthday cake on your birthday so your babies can be happy singing to you,” Teckenbrock, 29, wrote about the dramatic TikTok.

As she wipes the tears from her face and prepares the boxed cake mix, Christina Perri’s emotional song A Thousand Years plays in the background. She added “Gosh I’m tired of hurting” to the video’s caption.

Teckenbrock has since deleted the video — along with all of her social media accounts — but not before the viral video racked up more than 37 million views and received a flood of comments.

While some users offered their support, others were quick to judge her.

“You would never last in a man’s world,” one hard-line user wrote. Another said: ‘Chill out! I’m married and I don’t get any cake.’

Another comment on the now-deleted video read: ‘Why are you crying? You clearly need to work on yourself and your children first,” adding that “being single is better than being with the wrong person.”

Other users defended Teckenbrock and shared words of encouragement. “In case you haven’t heard this today, you are doing an amazing job, you are so loved. I would have killed to have a mother like you when I was growing up. I know it’s hard, but you’re doing so well.’

In a follow-up video, which has also since been deleted, Teckenbrock explained that she initially recorded the birthday cake TikTok to make other single mothers feel less alone.

She acknowledged that she was “an emotional baby” but said that “it’s hard” being a single mother.

“I honestly can’t even think of words to make someone understand how hard it is to raise children, take care of your home, and do everything all by yourself without having a partner,” Teckenbrock explained.

“There’s no break, it’s exhausting all the time and the crying was probably just out of tiredness.”

She later shared with her followers that her children helped her decorate the cupcakes and sang “Happy Birthday” to her.

Teckenbrock’s Linkedin shows that she is the founder of ‘Fear to Fierce’, a non-profit organization ‘dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence through support services and advocacy, empowering women to resist fear and embrace their inherent fierceness.”

She attended Purdue University, where she earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, according to her Linkedin. The single mother now lives in Tampa, Florida.
