A much-loved professional mime who entertained Sea World visitors for 36 years has shared his heartbreak after being suddenly made redundant.
Lynn Frey, known as Lynn The Mime, has amassed a huge following after his long tenure performing for crowds visiting the Florida theme park.
But when Lynn arrived at work recently, he said he was scolded by a security guard for riding his bike. As he had done for years, a disagreement arose, which ultimately cost him his job.
Lynn claims that he was not given the opportunity to tell Sea World bosses his side of the story, that he was fired directly from Sea World without any consolation and that he was denied the opportunity to perform one last time.
His plight has drawn support from thousands of people online.
‘It wasn’t my decision, it was theirs. And I will tell the story,” he said.
Lynn Frey, a professional mime artist who goes by @lynnthemime on TikTok, revealed he was abruptly fired over an argument
Frey told his 81.2K TikTok followers that on the fateful day he got into an argument with a security guard over biking in the park
In May, Lynn says he parked his car in the parking lot and then grabbed his bike to ride into the amusement park like he would any other day.
“As I cycle through the guard, I see some security ladies that I’ve seen a few times over the years, just saying ‘good morning,'” he said in a video online.
“And I got on my bike and rode away. And as I was driving away, I heard a gentleman yell at the top of his lungs, “Hey, come here!”
The mime later revealed that the man yelling was another security guard who told Frey, “You’re not allowed to ride a bike in this park.”
Frey remembered replying, “Excuse me? I’ve been cycling in and out of this park for years.’
The mime later revealed that the man shouting was another security guard who told Frey: ‘You are not allowed to cycle in this park’
Lynn has amassed a following of his own after his long stint performing in front of crowds visiting the Florida theme park
After a few minutes of back and forth, Frey said the security guard ordered him to park his bike in a corner and walk instead.
According to the artist, the security guard went to HR and reported that Frey was swearing at him and throwing his bike.
But the veteran professional has refuted these allegations, claiming he did not swear at the security guard or throw his bike.
‘I didn’t swear at him. Everyone knows me and knows I wouldn’t do that,” he says.
‘I don’t swear at people. I don’t have that in me. That’s not in my nature. If you push me hard enough, yeah, maybe I can say something. He didn’t push me that hard. The conversation wasn’t that tense.’
According to the artist, the security guard went to HR and allegedly said Frey cursed him out, threw his bike, and then went into his locker room to tell people he was going to be fired.
Lynn says he went to work for two more days and then got a call from his boss, an outside company employed by Sea World, saying he had been fired.
Not only this, but Lynn was also told that he has been banned from Sea World property.
He said the HR department never asked him for clarification on the matter.
“So Sea World never let me tell my side of the story. They judge, jury and executioner… so quickly. 36 years at SeaWorld. Apparently that means nothing to them,” he said.
“I asked if I could come in and do one last show. They said no. I asked if I could come in and tell my side of the story. They said no. I can not help it. I’m sorry, folks.’
Since her dismissal, the artist’s daughter has had a GoFundMe to help support his new company, The Mime Company.
He has also received widespread support from his TikTok community, with many demanding a response from Sea World.
One viewer said: ‘My dad worked for Sea World Orlando for 25 years and he rode his bike on the back road. I worked there for 3 years and always enjoyed watching you. you were always kind to everyone. Sorry this happened.”
Another said: ‘Maybe Sea World doesn’t realize how important you are to visitors?’
Someone else begged: ‘Sea World Orlando does better!!! Hire this man back and give him a raise!!!!’
Lynn says he’s devastated, but tries to look on the bright side.
“I’m sad about the way it ended, but happy but excited for a new adventure,” he said.
