Heartbroken child, 7, raises $10,000 through lemonade stand to pay for mother’s gravestone after she died unexpectedly last month
A heartbroken child decided to open a lemonade stand to raise money to pay for her mother’s gravestone after she died unexpectedly last month.
Emouree Johnson, 7, opened her booth Friday and raised nearly $10,000 in honor of her late mother, Karli Bordner, 29, who died suddenly in March.
As the news spread Scottsboro, Alabama, and people from all over the world took to social media to support her.
Emouree sold each cup for $1 and also received heartfelt tips from firefighters, neighbors, nurses and police officers in her hometown.
“I didn’t know that just making a little lemonade would bring in so many people,” Emouree said WAF.

Her mother, Karli Bordner, died suddenly in March. It is unclear how she died
When asked where she got her valuable ethics, Emouree said, “my mom,” as she stood behind a table on her lawn and filled cup after cup of lemonade for the community.
“Emouree is so special, if you haven’t noticed yet,” said her grandmother Jennifer Bordner.
It is unclear how Karli died, but according to her obituary, a funeral for the mother was held on March 18 at Rudder Funeral Home.
a GoFundMe The page was also created in Karli’s honor, having raised more than $4,000 as of Sunday afternoon and describing her as a “loving mother, daughter, sister and cousin.”
Jennifer posted several photos of her daughter with Emouree on her Facebook page as friends and family flooded her comments with condolences and heartfelt messages.
“I love that girl… It was so nice to be with her,” one said.

In one post, Emouree was seen at a cemetery smiling with flowers around her.
“Thank you all so much for the love you have shown to Karli Bordner. RIP my angel,” Jennifer said.
In another post, Emouree was seen with her arms wrapped around her mother as she smiled.
Jennifer said, “Karli, I hope you can see what your beautiful baby is doing! All the love and help from everyone! We love and miss you so much!”
While serving the city’s residents, she posed for photos with firefighters, who even let her test the hose and wear one of their helmets. A motorcycle group also visited her booth and let her hop on one of the bikes as she posed for a photo.
Emouree’s lemonade stand has received so much attention that several monument companies have reached out and offered to cover the cost of her mother’s headstone.

The money raised at the stand will now go towards other costs = the family has made it through this difficult time.
‘I’m just amazed. I cried tears of joy,” Jennifer said.
Emouree said she knows her mother would be proud of her, as her grandmother said the young girl completely understands the loss of her mother.
‘Yes. She would say I’m doing fine,” Emouree said.
‘As if she knows that mom is doing well now. She knows she is doing well, and everyone cares about her and loves her,” Jennifer said.
“All these people showing all this and trying to help, it’s actually helping the whole family heal.”
