Heartbreaking update in case of 35-year-old woman who was crushed when car plowed into her living room

A woman in Arizona was dead a week after a car drove through her living room and crushed her while she was putting up Christmas decorations.

Amanda Rogers, 35, was seriously injured when the vehicle crashed through her home in Glendale on Sunday, November 10.

The mother of two was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police confirmed she died from her injuries on Monday.

Police in Arizona said an adult woman was behind the wheel of the car, with two other passengers in the vehicle.

Glendale police said they were detained and released pending further investigation and that speed and impairment are believed to be the cause of the crash.

Neighbors told us AZFamily that Rogers was decorating her family’s Christmas tree while her husband and two children were in another part of their home.

Jenny Frank told the outlet, “It’s just so sad, so tragic. I feel so heartbroken for the family.”

Frank added: ‘You expect to be safe in your own home, so when something like this happens it’s heartbreaking for everyone.’

Those in the neighborhood previously told the newspaper that Rogers was a wonderful mother and a kind neighbor and that they couldn’t believe what happened.

Erica Cohen said: ‘It was incredible. It is really unthinkable that you would have an accident of that nature.

“First of all, you would never want to feel so unsafe in your own home, and you should never feel so unsafe in your own home.

‘It’s very sad to think that something like this could have happened to her. Very caring person.

“Cares about her family, and she’s always outside talking to people and waving at people. It’s really sad to see, it really is.’

On Monday, Sergeant Bryan Hoskin said in a statement: “Here are several pieces of evidence that detectives are still examining.

“Our detectives are being meticulous and decisive, as they always do, to ensure proper justice and clarity in such a traumatic event for all involved.”

According to AZFamily, officers hope to make an arrest in the case in the coming week.
