Callahan comes up with the bombshell theory that JFK Jr. was on a “murder-suicide” mission when he crashed his plane on July 16, 1999, killing himself, Carolyn and her sister Lauren off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard.

Despite deteriorating visibility and advice from experienced pilots to stay on the ground, JFK Jr. to fly on it. Once airborne, he cut off all communication with air traffic control and nearly collided with a commercial airliner.

Lauren Bessette only accompanied the couple on the fatal flight to “bring about some kind of peace,” Callahan writes.

In 1999, JFK Jr.’s wedding was off limits. and Carolyn on the edge of the abyss. He had already moved out of the New York City apartment he shared with Carolyn. But “the last thing he wanted was for the press to speculate about his marriage.”

So Lauren offered to join them to smooth things over.

An investigation into the crash by the National Transportation Safety Board found that JFK Jr. was solely responsible for the plane crash.

Carolyn’s mother Ann Freeman received millions in a wrongful death settlement from the Kennedy family in 2001.

Carolyn enjoyed insulting her boyfriends, “grinding them down” until they “felt nothing,” Callahan writes.

Carolyn’s motto was, “Date ’em, train ’em, dump ’em.”

She also had a jealous streak. After seeing an ex-boyfriend lighting another woman’s cigarette, she tore up his apartment and attacked him in the street.

Carolyn was full of insecurities and thought shejolie-laide(ugly-beautiful), Callahan reveals.

She worked as a publicity director at Calvin Klein in the 1980s and early 1990s and “studied” the models, trying to understand how they “stayed so thin” and maintained their good looks.

After dating JFK Jr. in 1994. started dating, she “turned to her psychic reinvention.”

‘She was only 28 years old, but [she] went to erase her tiny facial lines with Botox. She plucked her luscious, thick eyebrows into wisps, bleached and straightened her hair and lost 15 pounds with the help of cigarettes and cocaine. [to kill her appetite]’, Callahan writes.

After dating JFK Jr. in 1996. married, ‘there were problems almost immediately’.

They regularly argued, even in public. They infamously rowed in New York’s Washington Square Park in February 1996. The photo showed JFK Jr. pictured “pushing” Carolyn and then “trying to rip off her engagement ring with such force that the stone broke,” Callahan says.

When their marriage failed, Carolyn fell into depression. She started taking “antidepressants on top of the cocaine,” Callahan reveals.

Carolyn admitted to her mother that she still thought about her ex-boyfriend, [a Calvin Klein] underwear model’.

Despite having no journalism or business management experience, JFK Jr. launching the magazine ‘George’ in 1995.

“He and his friend and business partner Matt Berman enrolled in a two-day course called ‘How to Start Your Own Magazine,’” Callahan writes.

He then began pitching the idea to the city, seeking a $20 million investment.

One executive called his pitch “the worst presentation I had ever seen in my life.” Within two years the magazine was on the brink of bankruptcy.

JFK Jr. “almost killed” his first serious girlfriend, Christina Haag, “more than once,” Callahan writes.

One near-death kayaking experience occurred in 1986, when he took her kayaking on the open sea in Jamaica. He forced Christina to kayak through a strong sea, and they both almost drowned.

Afterwards, Christina told him, “We could have died.” To which he replied: ‘Yes… but what a way to go’.

Before their wedding, when Carolyn and JFK Jr. were courting each other, “she found it exciting to belittle him in public, call him homophobic names in front of her fashion friends, taunt him with that male model she always kept it on the back burner,” Callahan writes.
