Dozens of people filmed the last moments of the animal, which couldn’t make its way back to sea in St Ives, Cornwall.
According to The mirrorwitnesses claimed that the dolphin lost sight of its group and got stuck behind a sandbank.
One witness said the scenes were “heartbreaking,” while others said the young mammal “swimmed round and round but got nowhere.”
