Heartbreaking moment California grandmother Adriana Sanchez walks her dogs before she is killed in ‘cowardly’ collision as she stepped into crosswalk: Police launch $50,000 reward to find suspect
- Adriana Sanchez, 50, was killed in a collision in North Hills, Los Angeles
- She walked her two dogs at 6 a.m. Monday, as she did every day
- LAPD is seeking more information and has offered a $50,000 reward
A 50-year-old grandmother was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Los Angeles.
Adriana Sanchez was walking her two dogs in North Hills around 6 a.m. when the vehicle struck her and her two dogs.
She was struck in an obvious crosswalk and taken to the hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department medical personnel, where she later died.
Sanchez’s daughter Naomi Hidalgo was heartbroken and determined to find the driver responsible.
‘I still feel like it was a dream. Like, she was the glue that held this whole family together,” Hidalgo said KTL.
CCTV footage showed Sanchez walking her dogs Rocky and Charlie early Monday morning, just before she was struck and killed at a crosswalk in North Hills

Sanchez’s family feels strongly that someone witnessed the incident, as they said the intersection was notoriously busy
Police have no leads on the vehicle description or driver description and have since announced a $50,000 reward for anyone with valuable information.
Hidalgo and her cousin have taken matters into their own hands by searching the area to see if anyone has seen or has relevant footage of the deadly incident.
‘I think it’s really unfair. You just took someone’s life and you don’t care, you didn’t even have the courage to stop, nothing, to even stop at the stop sign.
“I really hope they catch whoever it is, and we’ll work on that. We’re going to make sure we catch them,” Hidalgo said.
The two dogs, Rocky and Charlie, were also hit by the driver, but managed to run back home after it happened.
Rocky suffered a cut near his eye and had tire marks on his hind leg.

‘My mother was so loved. She was such a free spirit… She was the best grandma in the world. She loved my children. So it’s really heartbreaking to see someone tear that all away in just a few seconds,” Hidalgo shared ABC-7.
She added that her mother loved hiking, dancing and especially her family.

‘I know someone saw something, someone knows something. Please come forward. All the information, everything you saw, everything helps. We want justice for her. We want this person caught,” Hidalgo said.
Derek Thompson, a resident who has lived there for decades, told KTLA that speeding is a common problem in that area.
As he said this, another car sped past behind him, as he pointed to it and said, “Look, listen.”
The intersection is known to be full of dog walkers like Sanchez, with a school nearby.
LAPD urges anyone with any information to contact investigators or leave an anonymous tip as soon as possible.
“Motorists are reminded that if they are involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” police told KTLA.
