Heartbreaking footage of Pennsylvania's beloved news anchor Emily Matson shows her cooking with her mother just days before she committed suicide.

The 42-year-old died Monday after being struck by a train in Fairview, outside Erie. Her death was ruled a suicide.

Her mother, Patricia Matson, shared photos of the Erie News Now host “happy and proud” just days before the tragedy, revealing that she had taught Emily how to make lasagna.

Her brother broke his silence on his sister's death, saying he has her “Secret Santa gifts in my closet.”

'Last Friday I taught Emily how to make sauce and lasagna. She was so happy and proud,” Patricia wrote.

Travis Matson has spoken out for the first time about the catastrophic loss, revealing that he had already bought Christmas gifts for his sister and that the two were planning to attend a Christmas party at their parents' house.

'She wanted to take a picture to show her brother Travis that she made lasagna especially for him!

“I told her I was going to give her a lasagna pan for Christmas and she said she would love to have a lasagna pan for Christmas.”

The images show Matson in a festive red sweater, holding a glass of wine and stirring a pot. In another photo, the mother and daughter can be seen beaming as they post together for the camera.

The TV personality had a very close bond with her brother, who revealed his fears for the first time since her death in a lengthy post on Facebook.

'We had plans. I have your Secret Santa presents in my closet, you have yet to respond to my last text message, and next week we are having a Christmas Eve party at Mom and Dad's house where we ONLY talked about what to buy for the kids because every Christmas you just have to get the perfect gift,” he wrote.

“This shouldn't have happened, it wasn't planned and you should still be here. I hear and see many who have “no words,” but I have a few that I have shouted to the heavens over and over again.”

He paid tribute to his “beautiful and wonderful” sister's sense of humor and the many lives she touched.

Emily Onderko shared a photo with her late mother Emily Matson and wrote,

“Yes, she was a professional when she worked, she worked hard and loved what she did. But when we got together, she wasn't a newscaster, she was my crazy sister and neither of us took anything seriously,” he added.

Matson is survived by her children, Kyle and Emily Onderko, and her husband, Ryan Onderko. The couple also shared a late daughter, Kayla Onderko.

Her grieving daughter paid tribute to her mother on Tuesday by sharing a photo of the two of them writing: 'The most beautiful person I know, inside and out.'

Matson was last seen on Friday in a broadcast that went as usual.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said Tuesday that the evidence pointing to suicide is “indisputable.”

“It is with very heavy hearts that we learned of the passing of our beloved Erie News Now news anchor Emily Matson,” said Scott MacDowell, the station's news director.

“Emily was a shining light in our newsroom, delivering news with the passion and love she had for the Erie community and Northwestern Pennsylvania.

“We loved Emily very much and our thoughts go out to the Matson family and her husband Ryan at this time.”
