Heart-stopping moment woman acrobat, 24, plunges 12ft to ground as act at Russian circus goes wrong

This is the heartbreaking moment a female acrobat fell and was seriously injured while performing a trapeze act for children and their parents at a Russian circus.

Elizaveta Chumakova, 24, was hanging upside down by her feet about 10 feet above the ground when her grip failed as she grabbed a ring with her hand.

Luckily she was turned around so she fell feet first, but she fell to the ground and lay motionless during the show in Novosibirsk, Russia’s third-largest city.

The circus staff came to her aid.

She was taken from the circus ring to the hospital on a stretcher.

There was no safety net to break her fall as she performed with a group of tightrope walkers.
