Violent riots have taken place in parts of the UK in recent days, with Archbishop Justin Welby of Canterbury saying protesters were “defiling the flag they are wrapping themselves in”.
The health sector relies on workers from abroad to operate. Around 1.5 million NHS workers in England, about 19 per cent, are non-British, according to the library of the House of Commons.
